I’m sure many that have been on the rack have had at least a couple of nice things to say about the experience.
“They may be shoving red hot pokers up my jacksie, but at least the dungeon has a roof”, etc.
It must be galling to have to sit and teach less able Tarquins and Portias, while your own kids are going to school with the children of people you wholly detest.
Getting paid enough to teach posh kids, but not enough to put your own kids in a posh school. That has got to be a headfuck for someone with your clearly stated prejudices.
Wouldn’t bother me in the slightest, like. I know where I come from. I know people with neck tattoos. For you, it’s gotta be agony.
Nah, not really busted, but there was a delicious lack of self awareness in that post - albeit that Pap will no doubt trot(sky) out some pseud-clever comment about him being deliberately provocative to stimulate traffic or debate… reality is he disagrees with private education which is a perfectly acceptable POV. What I find so ridiculous is his chip-on-both-shoulders induced stereotyping. He has met a load of ‘posh /rich thick’ self important arse holes who went the private school… well fuck me, I have met an equal load of thick arse holes at the state schools I went to… does not equal all kids that went to state schools are arse holes… but hey it’s more 'dramatic/provocative ’ to use stereotypical views to defend a POV…
I am sure TCK does not need me to defend his rights (he may not even welcome it ) but why should a teacher be expected to make the salary and working condition sacrifices that many in other professions would not be prepared to make? Not many of us are Mother Teresa’s who seleflessly give up our own wellbeing for life to help others less fortunate than ourselves? Has Pap given up a higher paid job to work with Those disadvantaged? Or had he like most recognised the need to try do the best for his family and support them through his work opportunities?
It’s a fair question to ask if there are certain professions to which we should apply different expectations, but is it really any different from expecting U.K. State school teachers to give it all up and do VSO work in Africa?
Its the problem with old school socialists - the self righteousness that demands others be selfless irrespective of the practical realities of people’s lives, or the fact they preach it but don’t do it themselves - like union leaders in 5 Series Beamers, or worse old style Wapping printers union closed shop practices that destroyed the real value in workers representation… but that not a new ‘thing’.
Been over this Grandee, it’s a micropenis problem with the subsequent imbalance causing a chip on the shoulder and shit to be spouted from mouth. There is nothing anyone can do about it.
After the moral outrage of last year, @thecholulakid 's chav bashing seemed a little out of place. Given that I was the main target of this moral outrage, I thought it an opportune moment to comment.
My comments about independent schools being for parents that didn’t fancy their kids meeting the wrong sort of people don’t seem that outragerous now.
