:watfordfc: Watford v Saints :saints: (PL)

The list is so so long I’m bound to forget, it merely shows how poor the club has bought, been run and operated for the last 3/4 years.

Well we aint likely to forgot ‘how poor the club has bought’ what with your reminding us every few posts ad infinitum… I thought my wife was bad going on about the DIY chores…

A couple of pedantic corrections.

Long’s goal was scored after 7.69 seconds not 7.7 as you exaggerated - why the casual racism towards us Oirish, huh?

Secondly, I wouldn’t have said we hung on for 90-odd minutes. We took the game to them and should have been two or three up by the time they equalised.

Might have been fitness that brought the pressure that led to the goal but the removal of Romeu meant their excellent central midfielders got a hold of the game. I’d have been inclined to have left him on to be honest. Perhaps Hutch was worried about a second card?

Other than those two mistakes, I’m ok with the rest of your post.

I can only apologise for my lack of rigour and accuracy.

As I spent yesterday evening driving to Victoria and back, all I knew of the game was the final score and the time gap between the goals - I heard about the bogtrotter’s goal being the quickest ever in the Premier League scored by a potato-munching ne’er-do-well, or indeed by any other player, on the radio on the way home.

I didn’t mean to suggest that we hung on, just that it was disappointing to have held the lead for over 90 minutes and conceded so late. Other comments mentioned tiredness and it chimed with what I’d seen in a couple of other matches.

Sorry again for my inaccuracies, you Mick twat.

There were times late in 2nd half when we had 5 or so players around their penalty area, Bertrand at times looked too far forward.
Lemina went on a run nobody passed to him and he ambled back sulking.
The last 5 minutes our legs seemed to turn to jelly, 2 horribly misfit passes towards Bertrand that were 5/10 yards away from him, defenders falling over or not able to put their foot through the ball.
We often moaned at Saints sitting deep to hold on, bringing Sims on allowed Ralph to keep our shape and pace threat but defensively he is at best naive at worst lightweight.
Again, some lessons learned at least we tried to play to the end that is a huge mental change and I’m happy we have stepped up.
Would have taken a point, we hit the woodwork 3 times and looked bloody good for much of the game. I’ll take that thank you.
Brighton dont look like they can score a goal so max 3vpoints for them, if we cant beat Huddersfield we deserve what happens to us but think we’ll be safe Saturday afternoon

I thought we played some decent stuff last night. Particularly in the first half. We look so much better when we move the ball quickly. A good pre season, right back, centre back and a centre forward minimum and we will be comfortable next season. Obviously Barry will again have us relegated by Christmas.

Bertrand - thought he had an average game and seems to be off the pace generally? Is that unfair?

To be brutally frank and honest he’s been off the pace and looking disinterested for a couple of months now.

To be fair there was a period shortly after he came back from injury where he seemed to care a little bit more.

Tbf you are correct. He could give a shit though

I honestly think he’s just got one of those faces/expressions that shows little emotion. There is a correlation between him playing well and the team playing well. There’s no doubt he’s got something about him. Again, when him and Redmond link up, it really works; when they don’t, it looks a bit Sunday league. TBF some of his crosses last night were shocking - many of them landing on or behind the goal. What we don’t know is why - was he not just fast enough, didn’t get his foot around it enough, ball ran too fast/grass height, who the fuck knows ? Trouble is we’re all sat behind keyboards with a hot topic of which bar we’re going to meet in and/or who will be first on the “It’s Friday night and I’m cunted” thread. Not sure I’ve ever seen Bertie on there … It’s easy to criticise the man but he can be electric sometimes … peace and love men, peace and love. COYR

I’ve just watched the 90 in 90 on the OS!

Their equaliser was, once again, a lucky bounce from a mis-kick by one of their players that fell kindly at the feet of Gray, his shot then took a deflection (off of Yoshi’s foot) that took the ball out of the Gunn’s reach!

We seem to have suffered a lot of this type of goal this season.

We’ve gone backwards for the last 4 years, you have to agree with this.

And yet we have more points than last year with 3 games still to play.

So we’re in the midst of the 2014/15 season? Sweet.

It happens when you are one of the Premier League “also rans” and you have a good season that showcases your best players. Unless you have a mega-rich owner who will bankroll you regardless of FFP you can’t hope to keep all of your best players and replace like for like. You hope you can but that’s very much hit and miss…you’ll strike lucky with some, crap out with others. None of the “also rans” have perfected this replacement stategy and I suspect none ever will.
The trouble is Bazza you’re striving for perfection and as anyone who strives for perfection will tell you…it’s that which made them mad.
