VVD - will he stay or will he go?

Fk me I wish that I had enough Web nouse (sp) to share this

Edit.

The thing I know that we don’t have a chance when it comes to bigger companies and I have the utmost respect and admiration for Les, Ralph and all those below. And as for St Kat, well I’m just in awe. The Lady had no need to do what she has done. They can only use the tools that they can afford and that controls our position in the market.

Don’t like it much though.

It appears that he only wants to go to Liverpool. But they haven’t made a bid. So no problem.

Until they do.

He will leave and go to Liverpool. That might be this season or next, but he will go. Let’s see if we can get him on board like we did Spider-Man, Mane and Wanyama, and get a great last season out of him.

Fuck his wages. He is contracted to Southampton for the next five years. If he refuses to play, surely he is in breach of contract. Why on earth should he get paid when he is refusing to honour his contract. It is blindingly obvious that Liverpool are orchestrating this, they have taken the slap on the wrist from the FA regarding the (bang to rights) tapping up as a green light to carry on regardless. John Aldridge, an employee of Liverpool FC, advised VVD to go on strike just a few days after Liverpools grovelling apology, when they stated they were no longer interested in signing him. The sports journalists on the Liverpool Echo, who are effectively embedded at Melwood, have had ‘exclusives’ every day for months about Van Dyke and his desperate desire to sign for Liverpool. They in turn send these ‘exclusives’ to the nationals, Sky, BBC etc, who faithfully copy and paste these ‘exclusives’, making up their own headlines, “Van Dyke to Liverpool still on”, not dead etc etc. They are taking the piss. They obviously have a sense of entitlement, if they want him then they shall have him. We are Liverpool, he is too good to play for the likes of Southampton. And the powers that be in the FA are so gutless and intimidated, they turn a blind eye, even in the face of overwhelming evidence that Liverpool FC are flagrantly breaking the rules, effectively giving them the finger.

Sooner or later one of the so called lesser clubs are going to have to bite the bullet, make a stand, it might as well be us. It is pretty obvious that the governing bodies are unwilling to enforce their own rules and protect clubs like Southampton from being the victims of illegal tapping up of our best players. VVD was quite happy to sign a six year contract just one year ago. It should be made clear to him that he must honour that contract, perhaps tell him it can be reviewed in a years time, but as it stands he will remain a Southampton player. If he goes on strike, so be it. But he must accept that he is in breach of the contract and will obviously not be paid. Time for an example to be made. I can guarantee that we would get overwhelming support from the vast majority of Premiership clubs and their supporters.

You mean Web Noose for VVD’s neck

  1. The question nobody is asking.

In the space of 12 months we have seen the heads of two captains turned.

They have resulted in a string of bad vibes and PR.

Motivation is not only a function of the coach it must exude from the top down. Morale is a key function of any business especially when you want to outperform competition with limited resources.

We have reshuffled at all management levels this year and we the fans repeat our mantra of money.

Yet no rumours of issues with other players.

Lesson 1 is to ask how this was allowed to happen. Are our Board really on the top of their Human Capital game?

The easy answer is just to say money grabbing cnuts - that may well be true, but time for some introspection and tweaks to the Psyche Tests in the Black Box?

  1. The Opportunity

We are growing our fan base globally. New fans like our vibe and way. Commercially these new fans - TV watchers from USA to Vietnam will be important as will the kids in the family centre each week.

So now we as a club stand at a cross roads. It will cost us some £8mil in wages to let VVD rot for a year maybe more in lost transfer value.

But imagine the kudos of being The Club that stood up to Bullies. NBC documentaries, fans of every club outside the top 6 would give us respect.

This the time to stand up and fight them on the beaches to say not on our watch. To let future signings KNOW that when they join us we WILL let them progress when it is right for them and the club.

There have been too many complaints of tapping up this summer from too many clubs. Now we make that stand, sure it may cost us a position in the league, but it will strengthen our soul and our future.

Want out when we are not ready? You will rot until it is time for US. We can still sell ourselves as a stepping stone they sign 6 year deals & go with 5 left (They only guarantee us more money not loyalty anyway)

Let him rot

…I would add that players themselves , although not blameless, are not the root cause. Very few players who make it to the first team have any connection with club… Most of the youth developed are discarded early as a wide net is cast to try and net a few gems … So like with any job when there is a chance of a massive pay rise at a rival firm, why would you not seriously want to go. Let’s be honest most footballers are not the brightest… It’s why they are so easily led into believing they need an agent in the first place…,… Taking 15% of their income when a decent lawyer looking over contracts would be more than adequate… It’s set up to be corrupt from the moment FIFA started issuing licenses for agents … Which you have to pay for.

its also a classic conflict of interest as Agents will work in what is in THEIR own interest and not within the normal business practices. But clubs need to recognise that if they want players to honour contracts, then they need to to honour them as well… Many do sell as soon as big offer comes in regardless off whether the player is really interested or ready…or if their family want it. If clubs and agents commoditise people, we can’t be surprised that the commodity goes the same way.

Inknow it’s a cliche that the ‘Money’ has fucked the game… And we can sky… For me it’s not the money, that filters into the game, but how it’s distributed, and more importantly that SKY have in effect created more commercial value for only certain clubs. By deciding from the off that they would show more of Man U et all games, they create better value for MAN U sponsors, , more exposure, more fans etc… This made the revenue gap so much wider - a gap that continues to grow, and one in that many modern fans seem to think has always existed, as they were not around when Forest or Derby could win the league… It’s what has led to their arrogant seance of entitlement… That and the fact most are a bit fucking thick…

But the biggest con, is that the Premierleague and Sky connive to keep it going. Because sky need the subscribers, which means they feature more of those clubs… And the Premier need the buy in from those clubs to prevent them doing their own deals… The lesser clubs go along because it means they get more… Forgetting that it’s NOT the size of your revenue that is important, but the gap between you and what is needed for success… And that gap just gets bigger and bigger. This is great for fans of the 4 or 5 clubs with that premium position, but shit for everyone else. Such domination by a few is not healthy for the competition , but it is very healthy for the revenue of the clubs and broadcasters… Letting countries put 3 or 4 teams into the CL is also pile of shit… I still think it would be great to just have 1 pan EU competition based on the FA cup model, with countries getting 10-12 places etc…great for fans and would avoid 'I want CLmfootball shit cliches, but would never be agreed by top clubs who want that revenue for themselves… Not even the CL revenue, but the value this exposure has for your brand and commercial sponsorship…

There is no answer, you can’t turn the clock back… And we ourselves took advantage of this disparity in our return fromL1. Other sports put salary caps in place to try and avoid a monopoly on success of the few, but with ‘image rights’ and the benefits of being at a club with more media exposure to a players individual commercial value, mean they do not work in levelling the playing field. Budget caps don’t work either… There will no doubt come a time when their are 20 global teams who play in a franchised world league, but even then we would still have this domestic situation, just the smug satisfaction that the cunts from Liverpool would most likely not be part of the global league

…but it still leaves the fact that if The Premier League put “strict” rules and regulations in place regarding player transfers, they have a self-imposed obligation to enforce them. What kind of signal would it send to member clubs if LFC got “their” man…a prescedent for a free for all?

Sims to Long…bang, Anfield empties.

Nothing will change at our club for the better unless we have an owner who is prepared to put money into the club year on year. Kat needs to sell now to someone who will do that. The ambition statements are empty. Actions speak louder. What they decide to do with Van Dyke will be telling.

  1. Keep him and buy 2 first teamers and I will have sympathy for the board.

  2. Sell him and just replace and then take profits of the ownership out of the club and they will proove they are lying bastards

I doubt that anyone would give a shit. WBA have already done it with Berahino.

When is a transfer request not a transfer request?

When a £2m loyalty bonus is at risk

The ambition statements arent empty. The Board have a plan and they work to it. Thus far, for a club of our stature, it has worked very well. This has nothing to do with Kat or Les. It has everything to do with the players who are only interested in going to a bigger club. This is fine, but not at the early stage of a long contract. I feel sorry for the Board. It must be a nightmare having to deal with prima donna players on one hand and unrealistic fan expectations on the other.
