Slightly off topic for a minute, but what a prat Neymar is. He is already at arguably the biggest club in the world yet is acting like a child because he lives in the shadow of Lionel Messi but believes he should be the world’s greatest footballer. So, how does he plan to set about and prove that? Move to the shit French league of course. PSG’s only serious rival (Monaco) have just done an absolute Saints and sold half of their team.
So what exactly is the difference between saying that you want to leave and handing in a written request? Surely both are the same and should mean that the loyalty bonus goes out of the window?
Yep refusing to take part in preparations for the new seasons isn’t exactly showing loyalty. There must also be contractural obligations to make himself available for work, (if medically fit to do so) or suffer a rufusal to pay him.
It’ll depend on the wording of the contract. If it states that a loyalty bonus will only be forfeit if a transfer request is handed in, then that’s the only way it would happen. I assume this must be pretty standard, as it always seems that no player ever puts in a transfer request, no matter how much they want to leave.
I’m with CB on this. He’s a greedy twat (VvD that is - I’m sure CB is nothing of the sort).
I agree, surely if he’s medically fit but refuses to work, ie, in breach of his contract, the employer must have some sanction. Would they be legally entitled to fine him, say a days wages every day he refuses to turn up for work? Maybe get round it that way.
Regarding the reported 7 mill loyalty bonus he would forgo if he made a written transfer request, let’s face it, in the real world, or at least Liverpool’s world, whats to stop them whispering in his agent’s ear promising VVD they would stand that for him. Liverpool FC have shown over and over again that they have no scruples whatsoever.
Ha that would be fun…Liverpool prompt his agent to pass on the info that they would pick up the extra £7m he’d lose. VVD puts in a transfer request…and we still refuse to sell.
Putting in a transfer request doesn’t oblige the club to hear offers.
This whole shit show is becoming more and more important as the days tick on. In my opinion, it is no longer just about the player or the size of the transfer fee. This is our opportunity to draw a line in the sand when it comes to accepting the underhand tactics of Liverpool FC, and indeed anybody who chooses to replicate them (Spurs). It is no fucking coincidence that the two previous players who behaved in an almost identical manner, Lovren and Lallana, were courted by and ultimately ended up at Liverpool. Clyne, whilst not acting up, clearly dicked the club around in to making them think he would sign a new deal, all the while probably knowing the scousers were lying in wait.
For that reason alone I refuse to accept any chance that this is coincidence. Clearly it goes beyond what is labelled ‘tapping up’ and probably extends to full on coaching of a ‘how to get yourself a move and a massive pay day’ play book, driven by Liverpool.
There almost seems to be a level of brainwashing that accompanies it.
Sure they used to be a prominent club about 30 years ago but seriously, what is the appeal? It cannot be the weather because it always pisses it down whenever I am there. It cannot be a desire to play in cup finals otherwise he would steer well clear and stay with Saints. It cannot be the chirpy stadium ballad of 'You’ll Never Walk Alone" - which has to be one of the most depressing songs I have ever heard.
I am actually inclined to think that it is because they too are a selling club, much like us. Think about it… Liverpool have shown on numerous occasions that they will sell their best players when a bigger club (Chelsea, Barcelona, Bayern etc) come along. So are players simply treating them as another step along the way to mega-stardom, knowing full well that they will sell them to the genuine top clubs of Eurpoe? In turn landing them another massive pay day, and somehow more loyalty bonuses?
VVD can probably join them and be their main man on day one. Would he feel that way at Chelsea or Man City? Possibly not. This is the only thing (besides the silly money) that I can think of that would provide such great appeal. This is undoubtedly the reason that they went to such great lengths to win him over - flying him to Blackpool pleasure beach, buying him some fish & chips and giving him £5 in 2p coins to play on the slots - because they knew they were unable to fight a fair fight with City and Chelsea.
Whichever way I look at it I keep coming back to the same end result. They want and need him too much and that makes me all the more up for seeing them come up short. Get rid but not to Liverpool. The joke of them taking all of our players each summer has truly worn very thin and it is time we told them to go swivel.
stay or go for Van Dick, after last night it is clear two first choice CBs need to be brought in. That is going to cost at least £50m. Stephens should be able to compete but with injuries and suspensions we are in a very bad way at the back. Gardos and the new guy should be shipped out on loan.
Somehow missed your post last night Simon, needed to do aTMS and bury my head from all things VVD for a day or so.
Read it a couple of times over this morning and you’ve completely nailed it mate and pulled me right back into the ‘let him rot’ camp … excellent post srs.
One thing tho, if he was forced to stay, how do you think MP will deploy him on the bench ? Do you think he’ll adopt a traditional 2nd row seat, sat next to the no.2 keeper or will he have a licence to roam and sit where he wants ?
As we all know…apart from all the ex Liverpool players tapping up VVD…we have all the main newspapers working for the cause to move our ex captain out of St Marys.
They tell soooooo many lies do these journalists/editors
The Star newspaper reports…VVD told to force a move after burning Southampton bridges
I am reliably informed by my source…all things bridges …Auntie Flo that the Itchen is clear as she is walking towards Southampton as we speak.
If someone could check the other bridges around town…we can show the Polis that VVD has not commenced this deplorable act…as yet
Ps…can we arrange a crowdfunder for Auntie Flo…so as she can get the floating bridge ready in case VVD does burn the Itchen Bridge down when he starts to burn all his Southampton bridges
