VVD - will he stay or will he go?

The problem is the onus is on us NOT Liverpool. They won’t bid until we give the green light, otherwise they run the risk of us pressing ahead with our complaint. How can they publicly state that they have ended their interest, risk sanctions and then come back with a bid for the same player 5 weeks later.

So it is a standoff of sorts. It will go on as long as the club don’t come out and categorically state he is staying. Fuck all this nonsense about ‘hoping to reintegrate’, ‘wish to keep him’ or having ‘no intention to sell’ - only definitive action or use of language will end this saga.

Then @pap can lock this thread and we can all move on with our lives! ha

The current go to VVD ITKer over at Steveweb says that he wont be playing tomorrow night. He says that talks will be held today. He says he could still go so hedging his bets there. I expect the clubs position as expressed by Jeremy Wilson was one of optimisim (as it was with Koeman) and they are working on the basis that the sulky Dutchman will see reason and knuckle down.

A good point, well made.

But there are other actors aside from Liverpool; a Chelsea or Man City bid would see him potentially leave too.

Behind the scenes, we could be dreading that or trying to facilitate that.

True. At this point I would welcome him join City probably more so than him staying with us! Hear me out…

  1. Because it will mean he doesn’t go to Liverpool

  2. Because it will mean he doesn’t go to Liverpool

  3. Because it will mean he doesn’t go to Liverpool

  4. The money will be excessive and the process quick

  5. Because I don’t know any City fans

  6. If he stays then we can look forward to the Liverpool rumours to continue indefinitely

  7. He will probably stay with the agreement that he can go to Liverpool next summer

My bad, missed the VVD ITKers only post today (used up his 3 posts). He is not training with the team today - club decision. Sounds like he is still throwing a strop if true.

Serious question guys!!! If he kept up his strop and we left him training on his own and not playing this season, how much would that affect his ability/reputation/price? I have reached the point where I think ‘f…him, let him rot’

A: I hear ya…agree x3

“4) The money will be excessive and the process quick”

A: Na…money at this stage isn’t important…he’ll probably be worth more next season. He’s a player at the top of his game at the moment. Money we spend won’t buy a player “at the top of his game”…spending the money we get will always be a gamble. Why gamble when you don’t have to?

“5) Because I don’t know any City fans”

A: See answer 4.

“6) If he stays then we can look forward to the Liverpool rumours to continue indefinitely”

A: Who cares…it’ll be the hope that kills them when they get trumped by Barca.

“7) He will probably stay with the agreement that he can go to Liverpool next summer”

A: We don’t have to promise him anything…we hold all the cards.

QED. :lou_wink_2:

I think Bednerek has been brought in with a view to ready him to replacing VVD when he eventually goes ie next season or two. Obviously things could change with V Dick but I doubt he’s expected to step into Virgil shoes as a direct replacement just yet.

Not a great deal I suspect.

Has the Dutch prick handed in his transfer request yet?

It’s interesting that the current ITK news is that the deal is done - and that he may well stay for another season.

How about people only post ITK when they have knowledge, rather than repeating dull gossip from taxi ranks and The Sun?

Where is Jack Schitt when you need him? His Twitter account has been quiet for a month now.

Nobody would conclude a deal that far in advance…Trump could bomb North Korea and Liverpool would have wasted their money. :lou_facepalm_2:

Yep … I was at Old Trafford and feared the worst when Toby went off very early on, but Gardos had a great game … but I was also at Sheff Utd in LC 1/4 final and he was absolute turd!!

Tbf Eric, so was everyone that night

I was at the Arsenal 1-2 Saints League Cup tie in Sept. 14 and Gardos played 90 minutes in that.

I remember thinking he looked absolutely fine.

More possible ITKery from Steveweb. VVD refused to be a part of the SKY and BT video clips and could well be fined by the club.

1st post on here - hello chaps! Still struggling to see what VVD is trying to achieve in isolating himself. Sure he may perceive he’s forcing through a move to (presumably) Liverpool but being forced to train alone can’t be helping him get properly fit, let alone match fit, especially after being injured since January. With that in mind, he won’t be ready to start the season at full tilt let alone be in prime form for a World Cup season. Even if he harbours hopes of a late summer or January move, would he not be better to get his head down, get himself in the best shape possible and then hope something still materialises? Better that than coming across as a grade A wanker.

Cool! You can swear on this forum, unlike SaintsWeb…
