I was more convinced by his info with the Boufal signing because he called that very early in July (I remember reading it on holiday) and identified him as our priority target. We didn’t sign him until 29th August. To my recollection there was not THAT much about Boufal in the press that made him stand out as definitely our main target. There was a lot of reports about Watford leading the chase and we were also being linked with other targets quite regularly (like the Romanian lad).
That said, the reasoning he gave for the Pellegrini fiasco sounded a lot like bollox.
Sorry, but that sounds massively implausible. After all, the aim of Saints’ board in such circumstances would surely have been to make the move of VvD to Liverpool look as good (or as non-bad) as possible. I can hardly see that putting in a complaint about Liverpool’s illegal approaches, then selling him to them anyway, would be likely to achieve that aim.
Tom28 has resurfaced. As of Monday or Tuesday, VVD was open to staying if we made good on our promise not to sell our best players (him) and bringing in some quality to push on. Chelsea, City, Arsenal and Liverpool all interest. VVD not fixed on Liverpool.

Well, I don’t really believe much of what the ITK people write, I find it easier just to wait and see what actually happens. It would be marvellous if Virgil stayed for another year though, as long as he doesnt spend that time sulking and being a knob.
Maybe I am just brewing a simpleton but after the scousers apologised and withdrew their interest in Virgil there is no way they could sign him unless we offered him to them.I can not see us doing that.
