Just keep sending thoughts and prayers, apparently that is all that is needed

A brilliant cartoon - it captures everything.
El Paso was the act of a terrorist radicalised by hate speech.
The hate preacher concerned is lined up to be our future puppet-master bestie. :open_mouth:
What the fuck has the US become? - and what the fuck are we doing getting in bed with extremists?

As fucking odious as Trump is, not sure you can land the blame for mass shooting on his doorstep

This has been going on for years under presidents of all persuasions

The basics issue is the yanks love guns and they will not give them up. Unfortunately they let people have the type of guns that should only be seen on a battlefield and abdicate from any kind of licensing and checks that any sane country would have

But his rhetoric isn’t helping is it?

Indeed, I’m not blaming him for the whole sorry history - but he clearly played a part in this one.
His speeches about ‘an invasion of criminals’ and ‘all Mexicans are rapists’ is designed to whip up feeling.
He achieved that, and the gunman quoted Trump as he gunned down ‘the enemy’.
To continually verbally attack groups of US citizens, invites your supporters to act.
Trump’s language is the language of hate - which has consequences, so this terrorist act was inspired by a hate preacher radicalising the easily-led.
And the UK is about to get tucked up in bed with him.

While these mass shooting don’t personally involve the families of supporters of the gun lobby nothing will change. They simply don’t believe it will happen to their family but if it does they will be there armed with their assault rifle to protect them.
What it boils down to, support of the gun lobby means members of someone elses family are expendable, over control of guns. To bring home the implications of relaxed gun control each gun owner should have to register one of their own family as expendable.

To be fair, Obama is on record as listing the greatest regret of his presidency his inability to force through meaningful gun control, which he claimed to have been his number one priority on taking office. I don’t recall any other president considering the issue a priority, at least publicly.

Video games, eh?

The rest of the world seems to be able to play them just fine without becoming real life homicidal maniacs

But imagine if we had unfettered access to battlefield grade weapons. Shirley highstreet would be like a bad day in Basra.

Oh

Good thinking
what could possibly go wrong. :lou_eyes_to_sky:

The answer is clearly more guns.
The US is going to hell in a ridiculously over-armed military-spec handcart.

The gun lobby is truely the most illogical fucked in the head collection of people in the world

Damned right it should. More guns! We need more guns!
Now, how are my retirement investments coming along

Seriously another example is Opiates. Producers are now complaining that in States with legalised Cannabis & CBD sales, Opiate sales are down as much as 27%.
Think it was on the Beeb. Opiate lobbyists calling for tougher controls on CBD

Money.
Only about the money
