It may well be, but I’d like to think my comments still stand.
I was reading an article regarding Rishi and the fact his has gained a bit of momentum in the polls recently
On stat leapt out regarding immigration - apparently at one point 1% of all Albanian men were in the UK claiming asylum.
That is no longer the case as we now fly them straight back to process over there and the numbers dried up almost overnight
Given that the population of Albania is less than three million (about 2.8), and assuming that “men” means adult males, this figure scarcely represents a vast number of people. Even if it were 1% of the male population of Albania you’d still only be talking about 14,000 people. The same proportion of the adult male population would naturally be considerably less.
There are some facts and figures on it here, including the 1% of working-age males number.
Whatever way you look at it, it’s hard to see this as any kind of triumph for the government. The numbers are small - only 166 Albanians arrived by small boats in November last year, before the agreement between the UK and Albania was in place. But they’re no doubt happy to paint it as a victory - hence the prominence of the 1% figure, which sounds like it could be an awful lot but actually isn’t.
The drug dealing, sex trade and corruption are far more profitable in this country. And the profits are easier to launder here. Perhaps our leaders time and efforts would be better served by addressing this. Fat chance! Information is available suggesting that many Albanians rocking up in this country have their passage paid for by the criminal gangs they are going to work for. Likewise Russian oligarch criminal classes, who are welcomed with golden passports in exchange for hefty donations to Tory Party coffers, and indeed Tory leaders. £120,000 for a game of tennis with Johnson anybody? The clean up needs to start at home. But again, fat chance! In this whole immigration debate the people of this country are being played.
It’s not the immigrants who are robbing us. However many there are and however they arrive.
Fair points, although using a winter month to claim that Albanian migration wasn’t that high I’d a little disingenuous - all migration using boats falls off a cliff around this time
Remember the influx of Jamaican “yardies” a few decades ago? Similar motivations were cited, we’ve long been seen as a soft touch to those who would abuse the system.
Regarding the Albanians, back in 1987, visiting friends in Athens the locals were putting up the barricades in the face of a serious crime wave which they attributed directly to the sudden arrival of groups of Albanian criminals. The locals could have been misguided in their assumptions, I never did discover the background to it, but I do know it was a very common topic of conversation in the weeks we were there.
Or, to put it another way, the much-vaunted agreement between the UK and Albania hasn’t had any discernible effect, as you’d expect it to have happened anyway.
One might also draw differing conclusions from that indisputable fact.
If they are falling off a cliff they are using their boat wrong.
Elsewhere in Toryland:
But… Albanians! Fucking Albanian bastards!
Simply misdirection and obfuscation- but many can’t see that.
Like many people who watched the appearance of the Lying Oaf in front of the select committee I was puzzled as to why they steered clear of the so called Abba party held in the Oaf’s Downing St flat during lockdown. The one where there were reports of the music being heard out in the street, vomit all down the legendary Lulu Lytle wallpaper, shagging in cupboards etc etc. This was the one lockdown breaking party that he couldn’t have got out of because there were too many witness accounts, yet nobody went near it. Not the Metropolitan Police, not Sue Gray, the Select Committee ignored it, it was as if it never happened. Tellingly the guest list was treated as if it were a state secret. The media acted as if they were sworn to silence about the whole event, apart from publications like Private Eye and some independent online news outlets, who were speculating,(accurately as it turned out), that someone important was present which would cause great embarrassment if it got out to the plebs. Surprise surprise, it turns out that our future Queen, the lovely Camilla was a guest at the illegal ‘gathering’. Despite attempts to shut this down, including a rumoured D-Notice, this has turned out to be impossible to enforce in the age of the internet. It is amusing to discover that comments to newspaper BTL articles naming her were immediately pulled, they must have had someone on the case full time frantically pulling them. I hope I don’t get a knock on the door in the middle of the night!!
It really does show just how much of a Banana Republic we still are though, treated with contempt, fed on bullshit and kept in the dark. And it also goes to show how the law is indeed an ass. Students fined £10,000 for holding illegal parties during lockdown. Friends walking their dogs together in the wilds of the Peak District being swooped on by the Old Bill and fined for breaking lockdown rules, neighbours having a beer together in their back gardens receiving the same treatment, and so on and so on. It really does speak volumes about our so called democracy. I would like to see a class action on behalf of everyone who was fined for breaking lockdown rules and now have a criminal record receiving an amnesty and a refund of fines paid. I realise this would mean the Lying Oaf getting away with his hypocrisy and illegal behaviour but that doesn’t really matter now, thankfully the scales have fallen from most people’s eyes at last, he’s finished, you can stick a fork in him, he’s done.
Hmmm…this strikes me as something the Tories know will cost votes hence not reviewing it until after the next election.
I have wanked in most places of the world why is this site just appearing?
In my experience Street Cleaners are the salt of the earth…no fuckin’ way would they let Reece-Mogg anywhere near a broom.
The only one of those cunts you’d trust to do their new job properly is Lee Anderson. And even then I doubt he’d get many contributions.
Here’s one that @Bucks is probably aware of…
Good old Dim Dom - it’s like when he tried to take the credit for extending the length of all of train platforms and trains in our constituency.
Good to see the locals calling him out for being a knob.
