:tories: Tories in trouble?

So Truss is reportedly planning to follow Trump and move the British Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. Disgraceful. When Trump recognized Jerusalem as the capital it resulted in serious protests from Palestinians resulting in more than twenty of them being murdered and hundreds seriously injured. If she goes ahead with this deliberate provocation it will shame our country. Not that this would bother her in the slightest, she’s bought and paid for, as she told CFI on the hustings, “Under my leadership, Israel will have no stauncher friend in the world”.
Vile woman.

So with todays mini budget we get tax cuts… and national insurance increases scrapping… so those who would have paid most under make the biggest savings … the poorest a tiny percentage that might mean they can continue to buy a toilet roll or two…

Corporation tax down meaning excessive profits for energy Co’ go untaxed whist increased borrowing at higher interest rates used to pay for energy bill relief… the costs for which will fall on tax payer long run…

I do know some older school tories who have found the last 5 or 6 years pretty shocking and unrecognisable as sleaze bag self serving cunts continue to plunder the public safe in the belief that they can get away with anything after the whole brexit debacle - the politic of misinformation and a section of the public who really are prepared to cut off their noses to spite their face that - ‘yey, we may be going hungry, but you got brexit done so must be given every power to do as you please…’

Although being a Lefty, it was tough but I had to kind of agree with one such old tory who suggested simply that capitalism is the best way to generate wealth… How we chose to spend it as a nation is the bigger question and one which determines our real worth as human beings.

More houses to heat and more stables??

:joy:

Surely they’re doing this stuff on purpose to throw the next election? They can’t be that stupid, can they (no need to answer that)

Actually it’s a piss take

I thought you knew that…

Do we still have a hosepipe ban because I was going to water my staff tomorrow?

Just wanted it not to be….

IR35 going.

The Tories have just won the vote of every contractor out there. It’s a huge deal, and was always a farce.

The idea was that long-term contractors were effectively disguised employees, which was always bollocks. Contractors have no sick pay, no holiday pay and no employment rights.

The contractor takes a gamble on his or her skills, knowing they’ve got to produce or be canned, knowing that they’ve got no place in the long-term hierarchy. They were punished for doing a job well.

Funny it’s taken until now though :man_shrugging:t3:

Not convinced it’ll translate into votes from people who were impacted by ITV… up to now .

It’ll put a lot of disposable income back into the economy.

It was also a Labour government that introduced it.

This is the natural economic government adjusted situation following brexit, particularly a brexit badly administered. Why would anyone think differently?

But why did the Tories stick with it though? Remind me, how long have they been in power and why only now is it being scrapped?

Surely this is the obvious Tory position following a few years where the leader has been more worried about consolidating power than administering it? The dismantling of the NHS, the use of the media to normalise food banks, the promotion of self over community, the short term-ism of career politicians. It all adds up to what Truss is implementing. No surprise, just save enough for your private healthcare, cos your precious house equity will just about cover your healthcare when you’ve got dementia. Sure, you think you’re a renegade geezer, but you ain’t. You’ll be fucked like the rest of us.

It’s now fucking obvious that Labour left have a decision to make. Continue whining about Starmer or put that to one side and unite and get these cunts out of office at the next election. No arguments. The future of social services, education, NHS, welfare and the social fabric of this country is at stake.

The age old problem for us lefties… seeing the left argue and bicker over who is most left and self-righteous as opposed to getting the tory cunts out of power. Bickering over points of nuanced (and not sun nuanced) principle as opposed a unified focus on winning the next election

Starmer isn’t the best on offer, but he’s the only real alternative to the current govnt. But he’s better than these cunts, no question. It’s as obvious as the hole in my arse. As long as that stays the situation, any vote against him, because of Corbyn, is a vote for the Tories.

Because every government that inherits an unpopular policy can say “ah, but it was the previous government that introduced it”

If you want a proper answer though, it’s probably because contract rates soared under the upgraded provisions and Kwasi’s mates would have gotten fucked off with the contractor bills they were having to pay.

So, who’s going to say this is fair - and I’ll call them a cunt
