Only the new changes

So the onus is back on the contractor to get it right - which means they will all be taking the piss, claiming they are in business and dodging tax

IR35 does need to go entirely, but only once they have revised the definition of workers to meet the new working practices such as the gig economy

Last week we had Rees-Mogg etc proclaiming their loyalty to King and country, how patriotic they are. Then I read in The Sunday Times how one of their city editors was present at a dinner a week ago, before corrupt Kwarteng released his ā€˜Fiscal Event’, attended by hedge-fund managers, who revealed that they were all supporters of Truss and every one of them was shorting the pound. Several of them boasting that they had made small fortunes by Friday betting against the currency. Patriots my arse!

Nobody should be going along with the narrative that this shitshow is caused by incompetence by Truss and Kwarteng, that’s naive nonsense. They know exactly what they are doing, they are deliberately destroying the country. They know they are fucked electorally, as they see it they have two years of this scorched earth policy before leaving an almighty mess for someone else to clear up. Not content with funneling countless billions to their backers and cronies for shite PPE, useless test and trace etc, they will mop up anything that’s left. It’s a fucking disgrace, but sadly no more than a lot of people deserve. A poll today shows that a majority still believe the Tories are trusted more on the economy than any other party, unbelievable. Still at least we dodged a bullet, just imagine the mess we would be in under Corbyn!

Why doesn’t this guy just run for parliament? He froths so much at the mouth that surely he must think he’s capable of a better job than any of the current lot. I’m not saying he’d be wrong in that, but I just get so tired of hearing the relentless spittle-flecked invective that gets vomited out in the name of political commentary these days.

Every word true ---- surely nobody, if they are totally honest could argue with that. Its not funny anymore though. I just find it unbelievable what this government are getting away with.

It’s comedy

But turn your comments on their head and ask yourself why politicians can’t or won’t register how pissed of people are and why we get these ā€œskitsā€? :man_shrugging:t3:

One view I have read is it’s not the tax changes that have spooked the market. It was the BoE only going with 50 bps interest whereas the ROW went with 75 - we became an outlier and the.markets gunsights pointed out way

Now I don’t know enough about economics to even consider whether that is right or wrong

Sadly, I don’t. Its not popular to say so, an I will get pelters, but democracy allows all an equal say no matter how they little they know what they are voting for, or how easy it is to pull the wool over their eyes… We have a few million people in this country who determine which way the sea-saw swings and most of those are thick as shit - they vote which ever way the Sun tells them to. People happy to accept this shit show because of some false idiotic fantasy that they are somehow better off without more migrants, Polish builder, the rich paying less tax, maybe even queuing at food banks, because well ā€˜its our country and these selfless hard working folks, gave us our country back. So what if they fleece a few quid and help their mates, we admire that as we would all do it wouldn’t we… fair play to them I say…’

Our Government of choice is determined every 4/5 years by ignorant fucktards who have no political principles, and simply go with whatever shit propaganda is spat at them by the very people laughing in their faces…

Not a great indictment of the next Labour govt

I know it’s intended as comedy, or at least it’s marketed that way, but he never comes across as that to me. I suppose it’s amusing enough content, but he clearly seems aggrieved to the point of apoplexy. If he really is permanently as utterly furious as he appears to be, he could channel his rage into doing something that might actually address the issues he fumes about, beyond carping impotently from the sidelines. I’ve got very little in common with @Shroppie in terms of political views, but I absolutely take my hat off to him for what he’s done to actually get involved and try to make a difference. Jonathan Pie is eloquent, intelligent, articulate and politically savvy. There’s no reason he shouldn’t do the same.

That’s comedy / satire for you - people like it, don’t like it or just go meh. :man_shrugging:t3:

What he does is just different to @Shroppie - no less valid imho

Jonathan Pie is a comedy character. It’s like saying ā€œSurely Alan Partridge realises he makes gaffs on live TV - why doesn’t he take a media training course to get better?ā€ The whole point is he’s an angry political commentator.

Alan Partridge is such a bad presenter I’m amazed he got a second series.
