I think you’d need to know if previous leak inquiry reports have been made public before reading anything into this. I have no idea whether or not they were, but I’d be inclined to doubt it, especially given Whitehall’s passion for secrecy. And if they weren’t then why expect anything different this time?

When I started this thread, it was about tax credits and how that might the Tories. I don’t think it would have occurred to me then just how existential this trouble might be for the Tory Party.
They are close to imploding. Most of the grassroots hate Theresa May. Not only is there talk of mass defection to Farage’s new Brexit Party, there are even suggestions that the Conservatives are such a spent force that they should fight the next general election in alliance with the Brexit Party.
They had no-one on the ground in 2017. They will have even less people willing to doorstep for them now. Added to that, they’re unlikely to benefit as much from their pals in the media.
Spin aside, everyone in the country knows that fuck all has been achieved in the last couple of years, and that things have markedly deteriorated over the past nine years.
These European elections could be the final nail in the coffin.
Might the nail in Mays coffin, with a bit of luck.
