I can hear the fucking bells tolling.

Judging by her deluded performance in the HOC yesterday, it will be the men in white coats who will be coming for her.

She’s pulled the Brexit Bill repeat thingy

Theresa May today dramatically pulled the vote on her hated Brexit Bill as she edged closer to quitting as Tory leader.

MPs have been told the legislation will not now be published tomorrow and the second reading will not take place in the first week of June - despite the PM previously laying out the timetable.

The humiliating retreat is the clearest sign yet that Mrs May’s time in power is drawing to a close, after an all-out Tory mutiny over her offer for the Commons to vote on whether to hold another Brexit referendum.

Interesting - illegal to “broadcast” political news during the election (ie up until 10pm Sunday night)

I think it’s just the election stuff they can’t cover.

The news is awash with political developments. May to announce departure date today, apparently.

So the end of May on 7th June.

Her nickname when she was at the Home Office was Teflon Theresa.

Guess enough shit eventually stuck.

It’s hard to wallow in quite as much of the stuff as she has without at least some little bits clinging on. Though it’s also possible, of course, that the shit had more sense than to stick to May - after all, why get an even worse name for itself?

We’ll be onto third stringers now. Surely a general election will have to follow the Tory leadership race.

Well, a replacement Tory leader will make no difference to their parlous parliamentary position, but I’m sure they’ll do everything they can to avoid a general election. The arithmetic may end up making it inevitable though, and momentum for a no-confidence vote may become irresistible.

Incidentally, there was an analysis by James Naughtie (the man who first put the ‘C’ in Jeremy Hunt) on the radio this morning, in which he pointed out that, since the end of the second world war, there have been eight changes of PM brought about by general elections. This will be the eighth in the same period not to have been brought about by a general election.

At least she wasn’t rumbled for fucking a pig.

Over the next few days we can all look forward to the vomit inducing spectacle of all the Tory MPs who have spent the past year stabbing her in the back lining up to praise her.

Thank god for that - It has been painful to watch her cling on, at the end she was just floundering about. It was pitiful.

The next poor bastard is going to have the same problems of a divided house and party, but maybe they can be a bit more politically savvy and form more of a consensus

It will be interesting to see if the EU continue to hang on to their withdrawal agreement.

I suspect most will say it was for the best - honourable lady in impossible position blah blah

May to be remembered as Poundland Thatcher who accomplished jack shit

The best and imo most accurate comment I have seen so far is

“She was dealt a poor hand and played it badly”

The former PM, who used her resignation speech to blame others for her own failings, is already a largely forgotten figure while still technically in office and the situation is only expected to worsen.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::joy::joy::joy::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Fuck it, ideally, after she has stepped down we should quiesce party politics and there should be a cross-party solution on getting Brexit sorted ASAP.

Then, once that has been done, they have a vote for the new leader of the Conservative party and a general election following.

You would get a hard Brexit whilst trading in a customs union within the sphere of the single market. We would sign our own trade deals whilst letting The EU negotiate them on our behalf. There would immigration controls and freedom of movement. Finally we would have a technology enabled hard border in NI whilst continuing the free flow of goods
