I don’t blame them. I actually feel quite resentful that so many people have been left in varying degrees of shit thanks to a US imperialist project. The worst affected are surely the Ukrainians, but it’s going to hit the rest of the continent and much of the world.

Looks like news reports that in some parts of Ukraine the Russians are being pushed back, that has caused the Kremlin to issue the possibility of nuclear weapons being used, never thought I’d say this but can the Chinese just move into Kremlin and rule them from there, it’ll be safer.
To me this doesn’t seem like US expansion or imperialism but more a nation wanting a deterrent from a highly possible future invasion.
Completely accept the anxieties on both sides here. I’ve met people from that part of the world and the non-Russians are not fans of the Russians.
I’m less sure that NATO is the vehicle to do it, and think we’d be in a much better place, both in terms of NATO and the EU, if those newly made countries had formed their own competing institutions.
They’re free to do as they wish, they were under the yoke of the Soviets by force, if it were that good they wouldn’t have left and wanted to join NATO, its democracy, we shouldn’t be pandering to bullies and despots, hopefully Putin will be gone in 12 months time and there’ll be freedom for Russians as well.
Hopefully there’ll be a few more rats deserting.
