đŸ‡ș🇩 The War/Invasion in/of Ukraine

What is that and what does that do to strengthen your argument? Is that the Molotov family?

That’s the Queen and the Queen Mum.

Probably at Uncle Eddie’s place.

Sarcasm and rapier wit are a dying thing indeed

Oh dear. We’re having a bad day today, aren’t we?

Pretty much every pitfall you’ve faced today you just jumped into an impaled yourself upon the spikes.

And if there isn’t one there, you say “hang on a sec, lads - I’ll make one!”

Pap are you ok?

Looks to me like the pair of you need a break from screen time

and this isnt the only thread you are bickering on - its tedious

Anyway lets get back on track.

Zelensky is saying today Ukraine is on the verge of victory, I’m not too sure thats the case but one thing is sure, the longer this goes on the stronger the Ukrainians reservists will become and it’ll mean Russia will lose nearly all of its objectives, the only one they can say is they’ve stopped Ukraine joining NATO, huge price to pay and then theres the sanctions and reparations.

I’d rather kick a real puppy, tbh. And I’d rather not do that.

It’s not wholly untrue, much as you may wish it was. Anti-semitism was rife amongst the British ruling classes in the 1930s, an eminent historian such as yourself should know this Barry. But of course your take on history is very selective isn’t it, anything inconvenient to your ‘facts’ is immediately dismissed with the cry of WHATABOUTERY, the go to tactic of tunnel visioned hypocrites everywhere to try and deflect from their hypocrisy being exposed.
Hitler was very much admired in the upper echelons of British society, especially amongst the titled brigade and Tory MPs for his no nonsense views about Jews which they thoroughly approved of. A blind eye was turned to the pogroms in Europe in the 1930s, as was the persecution and cattle trucks to the camps in the 40s. The notable exception was Churchill who, although amongst the early admirers of Hitler couldn’t stomach the anti-semitism and saw the light. The British government knew about the concentration camps and what was being done to the Jews, communists and other victims pretty much from the get go, but again turned a blind eye and let the Nazis get on with it. For many in the establishment Hitler’s style of government was seen as ‘admirable’, mainly on account of his stance towards communists and Jews, which many thought were the same thing. It clearly is not “wholly untrue”. Trying to pretend otherwise is wholly dishonest.

I have no doubt that these views still prevail behind the closed doors of the gentlemen’s clubs in Pall Mall, they certainly prevailed in Government as recently as the 1980s. Alan Clarke, (for all the faults he may have had was an avid opponent of anti-semitism, his diaries were very enlightening, especially the snippets about the fuss made when Thatcher wanted to appoint Nigel Lawson as Chancellor, there was vigorous opposition. We already have two Jews in the Cabinet, a Jew as Chancellor of the Exchequer would be beyond the pale was the view expressed by many of his colleagues behind closed doors.

guys.

Just Fuck off this thread please.

This is a thread to record happenings in Ukraine.

It is NOT a thread about the links of the Royal Family to the Nazi Party.

Fine. Have it your way (or do we only want “good” news?)

If they’re traitors and conspiring against their nation whilst a war is going on Pap they’ve gotten away lightly,

You’ve had a busy day today Barry haven’t you.

Doesn’t look like they’ve benefited from the process of law, more by mob rule.

I do appreciate that cling film and cordon marking tape may be the only means of restraint the authorities may have given the situation.

The medieval witch-hunts are alive and well maybe

As the first tweet says “ The public humiliation and flogging of people accused of being thieves, marauders and saboteurs is unacceptable, even with a trial these kind of punishments are brutal and must stop.

The price for defeating the invasion cannot be a breakdown of law and order across”

But hey, you just carry on throwing the word “traitor” around at every opportunity .

speaking of witch hunts and brutal punishments, Navalny has just been sentenced to 9 years in a remote “strict regime penal colony”.

I saw that. Seems like Russia is a rogue state, but we knew that already.

Also from the BBC website:

“ Shortly after the sentence was announced, Navalny’s lawyers were bundled into a police bus and briefly detained.”

Bizarre behavior

This is still pretty mild.

So.

A Truck driver decides something must be done to help the refugees, he fills his truck with supplies and drives to Poland.
From IRAN.

Just over the border his truck packs in, he is found, people try to fix the truck, but can’t, so they get him a new truck, INCLUDING doing all the necessary paperwork for him to be able to take it home.
Where he now has another container ready to collect

Polsat News tonight

Presumably he didn’t try to drive around the Black Sea?
