Looking quite likely that Russia is going to advance on Odessa which would give them (along with Crimea) the whole coast and access to all the untapped black sea oil and gas that goes with it. If captured, those regions arent going back to Ukraine.
Question then is what happens with Transnistria and Moldova.
Also looks like Russia want to take control of the Dnieper to guarantee water supplies to Crimea.
whatâs left of Ukraine is going to be a husk.
And Russia will be sanctioned back to the stoneage, the only money it will get will be what China offers. They may control the cities but theyâll never control the land, Russia need to learn from the British concerning Ireland in that, I fear also NATO could get sucked into this directly through Russian provocation, even Putin knows if that happens he and Russia are finished.

Iâm not ranting, Iâm pointing out it would appear you want peace for you and not the Ukrainians, I want peace but the Ukrainians must decide what they want.

Iran is a rogue state and its a battle not with the west but with Saudi, the whole World would be better if they sorted their mess out, Sunni and Shia and theyâve been fighting that war for centuries.
Phil, with respect your position on this is quite rightly emotive as youâre far closer to the warzone than we are but please correct me if Iâm wrong but it would seem you want Ukraine to surrender and not join NATO whilst youâre next door in a NATO country, a country that would never give up that membership, so from this I can only take is you live in Poland and donât want Poland to be in NATO?
If true it makes sense, the Chinese value trade with the US more than their relationship with Russia, that could go a long way for peace to be brokered, Putin alone and sanctioned will hopefully make him see sense.
The amount of tat the UK & EU buys would also make a dent in the Chinese economy if it went to sanctions.
The Chinese have got to be looking at the longer term picture. They know that if Russia goes down as a power, theyâll be encircled next.
China relies on the west to keep its middle classes satisfied and the only way the Communist party will continue to do that is strangely by capitalism, if the middle classes growth stagnates then questions will be asked and then what all totalitarian fear, regime change and revolution!
The Chinese may be closer to the Russians than the west but theyâre not soft, if push come to shove theyâll fall in line as theyâve too much too lose economically, the Chinese would take on the EU no worries but not the US, Japan and all nations that surround it trade wise, bad for business.
In 30 years time China wonât be a communist Country, its the crappest communist country as it needs capitalism to survive.
