📚 The Sotonians Lockdown & Beyond Diaries

This weekend has been possibly one of the worst for our family. 6 weeks ago my mum got taken off in an ambulance. 2 operations later and 2 weeks in hospital she was back home. In that time no one could visit. You hope that the person in hospital understands and can make decisions or they call the partner and they understand.

Friday night my sister calls to say my dad was now off in an ambulance and it sounded far far worse than mum’s episode. I think my mum, sister and her partner experienced quite a traumatic situation. Yesterday we just waited but he has improved and today he has already been discharged! So a real roller coaster of emotions. I am hoping there will be follow up for him and if not we will be pursuing it. He sounded ok when I spoke but he seemed to think he should head back to work. Er NO!

Additionally my mum also felt unwell so when my sister went to get dad she dropped mum off at hospital to have a review but thankfully she was ok.

I’m still a bit knackered and teary with it all. I also wasn’t able to do anything being 1 initially in tier 3 and not being able to travel and 2 now in tier 4 and absolutely no travel at all.

We are living in one of the hot spots of this new strain. I’m going to have to see what work say about going to the office but I now feel very uncomfortable with that.

Yep Nicki we all luv ya and wish you the best in these stressful times. You carers are the strong backbone of a nation that in many cases sadly don’t deserve you.

Stay strong we need you, we have your back…we’ll all have our jabs and things will be back to normal in 2021. You’ll have to come down and we’ll all go for a New Forest pub crawl with all our doggies. :lou_lol: :cupid:

Cottaging pie? A bit runny in the middle and overly salty?

How did you know?

Said I wasn’t comfortable going back to the office whilst we are in tier 4 and that’s fine. So working at home for the foreseeable. Though that will mean 24/7 with my partner. Swings and roundabouts eh?

So today was told one of my colleagues has tested positive. She was last in the office a week ago. I was in since then but not at the same time as her. She believes she picked it up this weekend. They may decide that actually more of us should remain at home. We also got an email that made me chuckle about the desks being cleaned regularly. Not in our office. Cleaner arrives at 4.30 when we are all sat at the desks. So obvs cannot clean then. We do it ourselves.

Looking at Covid map we are dark purple in our ward. 800 plus per 1000000. I’ve just seen a response to the councils ‘we are tier 4, do not have people in your homes etc’ and someone wrote ‘hell to your rules’.

I’d like all of us to stop moving about please, stay put, stop seeing people etc for a bit and then if my parents need to go into hospital again then they’re safe to do so and I could go visit them please.

Security just knocked on my door and asked
" Do you have a girl in there"

As if I was going to say yes.

And its a woman not a girl :crazy_face:

If she’s from Thailand you could reply “to be honest, I’m not sure.”
