šŸ“š The Sotonians Lockdown & Beyond Diaries

I concur getting the pool boy to put the right chemicals in and vacuum the bottom is a pain in the arse

It’s bound to have a huge effect. The question is how it’s going to manifest itself, I reckon the value of actual money will be much lower, while physical assets will be traded less and therefore worth as much as before. Its been said already that shedloads of workers will never go back to the old system of everyone going in to work, this could be the jolt that pushes everyone who can into working from home. Those of us who can’t do that should see wages hold up.

How many low paid people can realistically work from home?
I’d guess a tiny proportion and the bulk of the workforce in this country are low paid.
Big companies are in the process of destroying all the factory jobs with mechanisation that they wouldn’t have got away with just a month or so ago. Those people, like Uber drivers and a whole raft of others ain’t going back to work(probably ever).
If you service the rich in a limited industry you might come through ok. Apart from that i don’t hold out much hope for the average (ex)worker.
I’ll take a guess at 20% of the country’s workforce not being affected. Everyone else will be on a scale somewhere between reduced wages and no job ever again and this will all happen in the next two years, probably a lot less.

You vacuum your bottom?

Couldn’t you try wet wipes?

The future of the travel industry post Covid.
It is full of ā€œkidsā€ with mba’s talking about messaging, reinvention enhanced loyalty programs.
They dont have a clue! 20% unemployment and fear for your income levels vs your overheads even if you are employed.
No mention of Insurance, of the damage caused by not giving refunds & in many cases not getting people home.
Insanity to imagine ā€œa planned refurbishment of our Spa and an enhanced customer loyalty plan will be successful in helping our stakeholders see a return to pre-crisis international client numbers by the end of the yearā€ A South African Hotel Chain.
ā€œWe have upgraded our all inclusive offers for groups to include complimentary airport transfers and reduced cost tickets for popular showsā€

Like Batchelor Parties are going to be a big thing next month…

We expect to see pre-crisis levels of visitors from the UK early 2021.
Um. Hello?
No cover for Covid in Travel Insurance.
No EHIC.
Temperature checks at airports, so you have ANY kind of raised temperature you aren’t getting on a plane to come home!

If a barber had done that to me I’d raise merry hell, but for a homebrew from a beginner I’d say a big ā€œwell doneā€ to the ayatollah. Fair play to her. :+1::+1:

Hmmm…not sure…looks like too much head for the available hair.
Still as they say the difference between a bad hair cut and a good one is…about 3 weeks. :lou_wink:
