I think that when private firms engage public sector work, everyone knows the score. The likes of Crapita and Crap Gemini know that no matter how crap they are, there will be chaos by committee coming from the other side, resulting in endless scope creep and moolah.

That is a lot go ham though… you will be having the old meat sweats before long as you try and scoff before it is past its best… Assume its not the Ā£750 one?

Ummm, might be

I am starting to hate shopping, and I only really go to a couple of shops. The one over the road is worst, with narrow aisles and a lot of can’t-be-arsed contraflow whether you’re a responsible queuer or not.

I wonder if this feeling will stick.

Nice site.
Would have been cheaper not to lookšŸ™„

Builder can’t get his usual blokes to work as they have childcare issues.
New build empty property so all good.
At least it will stop me eating for a few hours.

Most of my work is shelved, being mainly for theatres, concert venues and cruise ships. But the remaining private customers aren’t quibbling about prices, they seem genuinely keen to get me out, and grateful when I show up. While the bailouts are in effect there’s money around, I’d say goatboy was in a stronger haggling position at the moment.

Yep. Just had a chat with another builder who is hoping to get started up again soon but he reckons that a lot of his blokes are more than happy to sit at home living off tax rebates and expected payment in June.

I’ve been working twice as hard as still going into work, and then dealing with all those who can’t come in via email when I get home. Not finding it exhausting as I thought I would.

I prefer comfortably middle class…

Actually the maintenance of it is a PITA

Yeah, at the moment there will be some advantages for some. That’ll change pretty soon, as the reality sets in.
I’ve had trades offering to work for less than half what i would have had to pay a few short weeks ago and that’s not because i’m such fun to work for.
Hope i’m wrong, but at the moment i’d say the greater depression has already begun.
