Meanwhile

We all enjoyed The Sandman 3 years ago. I was very surprised to find a new S2 now on Netflix didn’t know it got renewed. So long ago I had to watcch S1 final episode last night to remind me of stuff!

Invasion - also thought it was dead - been renewed on Apple drops later in the year

And of ccourse the hugely excellent Foundation drops very soon. LouLou Belle steps up this season as does Lee Pacce

Apart from it is nothing like the books and spits on the memory of Asimov, R. Daneel Olivaw would be looking at ways of circumventing the 1st law if he ever saw it.

I watched Ironheart. All of it.

Krappenshite, as the Germans definitely do say.

Murderbot

Absolutely excellent TV, excellent acting by Sec Unit.

Amusing and heart string hidding.

And Foundation has started strongly

Luckily I read the books about 50 years ago so I can appreciate the vibe and story being told on screen

Just back from watching the new Superman film.

I won’t spoil it, beyond to say that most of what you’ve seen in trailers happens in the first bit of the film. In fact, the initial teaser trailer is the very first part of the film.

The tone shouldn’t really be a surprise. Think Christopher Reeves Superman meets Guardians of the Galaxy and you’ll have a good idea of what to expect, a lot of character driven stuff working its way through the madness James Gunn likes to put on screen.

This is a lived in world. There’s no origin story in this movie. Supes has been out and about for three years, and has recently gotten himself into bother for stopping a Western supported invasion.

That all happens before the start of the film. So as I said, no spoilers.

Performances are great. Hoult’s Lex Luthor is the most evil incarnation put to screen so far. No sidekick called Otis; he is surrounded by utterly competent people and the scale of what he’s already achieved is a bit frightening.

Krypto the super dog was also excellent.

I write this without irony.

Ooh

The creators of The Expanse, Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham (James S.A. Corey), are developing a new sci-fi series for Prime Video that evokes the spirit of Star Trek more than the grim realism of Battlestar Galactica. While still grounded in political tension and human frailty, their new work aims to offer a future worth striving for. Details are emerging, but early reports suggest a more hopeful outlook, episodic elements, and a diverse ensemble cast. Their shift in tone honors Trek’s optimistic legacy while expanding on their rich world-building roots.

Off to see the new Fantastic Four movie in a bit.

It has to be better than Fan4stic, which I think is worthy of its reputation as one of the worst super hero films ever.

Fantastic Four First Steps is a bit of a breathe of fresh air.

No homework required. It’s completely it’s own thing, set in Earth 828 at some point in an alternate history 1960s.

It does the Superman thing and sets it four years after they are established.

I think they do a better job than the opening crawl on Superman. The film employs an Ed Sullivan style show with a clip reel of their exploits.

The cast is excellent with Vanessa Kirby stealing the show without being a girl boss. But they’re all great. Your man from Stranger Things is about of fun but seems more like he’s searching for the right woman than banging everything in town.

The ubiquitous Pedro Pascal does a better job of being a guilt-wracked Reed than the nipper in Fan4stic. The Thing has the least to do but silll a lot of fun.

It’s very character driven, nails the family dynamic and might just have given us our best female superhero yet

I really liked it

Brother in Law saw the frustrations I was having with the current crop of sports streams - getting sound on etc.

Suggested I try Brave (it’s a browser gang)

It worked.

When Brave opened it went straight to www.watchseries.re

It is a clone of Hydratv & Lookmovie

But. It has the new Superman in HD.

And although I cannot get full screen, I am watching

The Fantastic Four in HD.

Good review, enjoying so far

I guess this goes here - Zombie movie

28 Years Later is a gruesome Zombie Movie
28 Years Later is a moving memorial to survival of Englishness
28 Years later is a superbly acted art house statement movie.

I hate Zombie/Horror stuff. I hate depressing films.

This is a very different same as film.

I think it is very good/odd/weird/gross.

I am very proud that Grandson is in it, and in a scene that plays back to fighting for England.

@pap was perhaps a tad understated in his review of the new Superman film.

It is different. It is like comfort food. It is everything we loved
And it is just a bit more.

There were moments when we both laughed, both grossed, both said wrong, and both nearly got something in our eye.

The trailers don’t do it justice (gang).

It is a film you have to see, because you have seen all the others and this is up there, you’re gonna watch it many more times, like you have all the others.

Finally Superhero movies are vack
