šŸ¦‡ The sci-fi, fantasy and capeshit thread

Sadly it’s not just GB News viewers :lou_sad:

True.
The Fail readership is up in arms

Another positive benefit

The Grauniad by contrast loves it. Well, it would.

As did Twitter

It seems there is yet another streaming service out there - MGM +
The Winter King ( a King Arthur reboot thing) is the only show I have heard of from them.
Their latest Series just dropping ow is Beacon 23. It stars Lena Headey who we have all heard of from GOT
It is based on a Hugh Howey short story (Hugh wrote Wool which was turned into the very acclaimed Apple TV show (that nobody watched as nobody has Apple TV) Silo is about a Missile Silo/shelter cylindrical tube deep in the earth.
Beacon 23 is about a Lighthouse - a big deep cylindrical tube) in deep space (Hugh has issues methinks)

The script gets that all to make sense, and plot wise it bounces around all over the place. But there is a thread that seems to be flowing in a straight line buried deep down in there. It isn’t The Expanse (despite trying to get that feel production value wise, it is more a yarn that could become ripping but at Episode 4 is just on the verge of becoming a hopeless tangled knot.
Hugh has form, I think it will earn a ā€œIs not Shitā€ status eventually.
Right now (no spoilers) it is ticking ā€œstrange stuff, goodies & baddies, AI & Sentience, evolution and corporate conspiraciesā€ amongst love death and no robots yet

Internet says may be available on Fubo in UK MGM+ is not available in UK yet

Mrs P_F just watched Doctor Who.
She got the whole Pronoun joke and then the whole 15 year old binary thing.
Equally she totally admired the whole love with how it was written and the brilliance of the Doctor & Donna nonsense before…

I have to say I got the nuances better as well. So much love in one episode of TV

Oh FFS. Fvck you Apple TV.
Nobody subscribes to you so nobody watches any of your stuff except me & @BTripz @lifeintheslowlane
So why have you decided you can make a TV series out of some tenuous strands of a not really loved comic strip movie franchise?
Ffs
I have enough to watch with your For All Mankind genius and now you’ve found a way to explain Monarch?
I mean who cared?
Until an hour ago.
Fvck you bastards.
You got me

Monarch - Legacy of Monsters

Beautiful moment

Sad if true even @pap will be upset

The Orvilleā€ Is Done. It looks like the ship has been decommissioned.

Actress Adrianne Palicki, who plays Commander Kelly Grayson on the series, recently appeared on Michael Rosenbaum’s ā€œInside of Youā€ podcast and when he mentioned she’s currently doing a role in ā€œThe Orvilleā€ to which she responded: ā€œAhh no, no longer doing that.ā€ Then asked if the show was actually cancelled she said:

ā€œI don’t know, truly, the answer to that. I think there’s the talk that it could possibly be something that certain people want to do but it’s a really difficult show to shoot, man.ā€

Palicki explained that ā€œThe Orvilleā€ shot a total of just 33 episodes over six years, which worked out to five-and-a-half episodes a year not a steady income for working actors:

ā€œIt became an actual, real issue because there would be so much time in between seasons because Seth wanted to write everything himself so it would just take so much time. At one point, we were like, ā€˜We have to fight the studio to give us a holding fee or something.'ā€

She adds that some cast members like J. Lee, who plays LaMarr, reportedly had to get by on ā€œsaltines and Gatoradeā€ @ one point because ā€œwe just couldn’t afford anything it was horrible.ā€

She adds that she loved the actual experience when they were filming though:

ā€œI did love so many things about it, I think it was the process that was hard. The process was difficult, I loved the people that I worked with, and I love the crew they’re my family. But it was taxing. For what you got out of it, it was a lot of work for little gain.ā€ #DarkHorizons #TVLine

Good news.
@Cobham-Saint can add to his watch list.

I mentioned Lena Headley & Beacon 23 - a Hugh Howey (Silo) story

It was a story. I cannot say I agree with the jumping timeline way of telling the story but, like The Ark it was a decent story muddled a bit by pacing and editing but I wanted to know the story (and the CGI was decent)

I got to Ep 8 of S1 and boosh. It was a real no no NO you cannot do that in the middle of the story!

BUT the good news is that the show had already ā€œbeen renewedā€ and S1 & 2 had been shot back to back an S2 will drop in the US in April.

So IF you find it on a dodgy stick or ISP provider it is watchable and you now know the story will not get Netflixed in the middle

My guess is MGM+ will sell it to Sky later next year like they sold The Winter King

Well.

That’s awkward

This has been expected for some time but the MCU really built the farm around him and have been in a mess waiting fr this result for some time
