šŸ¦‡ The sci-fi, fantasy and capeshit thread

Finally
In bored of the things.
There be War
It be proper good

And?
Or?
Anyone?

So happy to see that TARS has managed to get his career back on track after Interstellar

I dont want it to be.
But it knocks 7 bells of shit out of the Fantasy crap
Andor rocks

Disney+ or my lookmovie guys

I have given up on Rings of Power for now and probably forever. I bet JRRs grave can now be measured in RPM.

House of the Dragon though, there’s a show. No big time jumps this week, but it does feature the best dragon work in either GoT or this.

As usual though, it’s all built around the characters. The Dragon scene is pivotal, not scenery.

The succession crisis gets near boiling point this week. Blood has been spilled in, people have been scarred or maimed by the other side.

No big time jumps this week. The last big one will be next week and then, fairly incremental.

As we’ve seen, things have a tendency to escalate quickly in The Seven Kingdoms.
.
Its residents are going to have a very poor time of things and it won’t just be the royals and lords affected

Viewers are set for a treat on this evidence.

How did we miss Avenue 5?

A Space Comedy starring Hugh Laurie about a bunch of rich idiots on a cruise past Titan that goes ā€œwrongā€.

Laurie in full imbecilic Blackadder mode, some serious DNA in the production team and something different

Encouraging start

Which paid for streaming service?

Now TV or Amazon Prime

It has vibes back to a stupid movie called Idiocracy that I loved.
Kind of an extrapolation of stupid into the future.
It’s an American show but it is very British.
Hugh Laurie’s character is just so believably stupid in concept

Ryan? Are you ready to do this?
ā€œWith every fibre of my beingā€

No.

!st show I’ve binged in ages.

Spoilers ahoy for this week’s House of the Dragon. Probably the best episode of the series to date. Very much earned too, to the extent where an old, dying decomposing man walking across a room floors you.

Out of context, this is a good enough scene. The set is well dressed, it is shot well, etc. Supported by the drama that preceded it, just magnificent. In that one scene, a father rescues a daughter, brothers reconcile and a scheme is utterly undone.

Props to both Paddy Consadigne and the make-up team this week. Viserys looks truly at death’s door and perhaps beyond it, which is what makes his walk across the throne room more effective.

Kind of like Liz Truss’s next walk to the Despatch Box

Andor is possibly the best thing to come out of Star Wars since The Millennium Falcon.
It shows Bobba Fett up as a pile of badly cast turd.

Ep 6 is up there in great episodes IF you suspend a but of belief.

Maybe because it has actors it is good. Maybe because it is gritty and grubby and there’s no sign of sand/Tatooine.

And seems the interwebs is fawning over it as well.

The best Star Wars show yet.
Disney +

But I am still bingeing Avenue 5

That was a walk & a half
