šŸ¦‡ The sci-fi, fantasy and capeshit thread

I’ve done a bit more of classic Who. Bit of Pertwee era, which is a very strange old beast for me - but the Doctor Who format that many of my slightly older mates are familiar with. One of them wouldn’t shut up about the Brigadier. I’ve also done some Tom Baker.

The companions seem to have a shit old time though. Sarah Jane in particular just seems to wander about and get captured.

Wasn’t the Pertwee era when they ran out of budget? So all his adventures were confined to Earth?

I thought that was Tom Baker :man_shrugging:

Mostly Pertwee.

His was the first series of Who to be in colour - and by that point the show was competing with US imports like Star Trek. I think there was a budgetary element to it all, but I think it was as much about not wanting it to look really crap than anything else. A quality set that you didn’t need to rebuild probably drove much of the thinking.

Dr Strange & the Universe of Madness.
It’s not shit.
It is a good film.
I just have an issue with Elizabeth Olsen in it.
She’s like the girl you’d like to marry, not the Woman you’d do bad things to, even when dressed in Leather.
Which makes it difficult to see her as a real baddie Scarlett Witch.
Film has so much action and introduces new canon and I am glad I watched it.
And I love Ms Olsen who was great but not my fantasy baddie

I thought Olsen’s arc was fine but it would have made little sense if you’d not seen the end of Wandavision. She was in full Scarlet Witch mode by the end of that.

As for the movie itself, I thought it was alright and that if you’re going to hit the multiverse full on, then Doctor Strange is the character to do it with.

Slight moans are that the MCU was referred to as 616, which is supposed to be the main Marvel comics universe (the MCU was traditionally seen to be a separate universe). They also didn’t visit many universes.

Character arc I agree.
Just she’s so cute & cuddly…

She’s a fucking menace.

See ā€œHouse of Mā€ for details.

I’m pretty sure only @BTripz & I are watching For All Mankind (sadly)

Keep coming back to this weeks’ episode. Think it had the ā€œworstā€ ā€œneedlessā€ ā€œDeath in Spaceā€ ever. And so brilliantly and inevitably done.

SNW is a great show I love it and closing in on being a classic, but as pure Space Sci-Fi FAM is getting closer to The Expanse every week.

@lifeintheslowlane You have the link, join us

I am a little bit behind at the moment but it is a good show, for sure.

Yep I’ve actually signed up on Apple TV. Went to set it up on my Sony Android smart TV, went to find the Apple TV app and it ain’t there. Find the Google Play Store app and search for the Apple TV app and it won’t find the fucker.

I’ve given up trying tonight after updating the TV and then trying to find something that’s still not there. :rage:
Cunts.

Might need an APK.
Ask a geek for help.
I watch everything on my laptop.
It’s free
As long as I don’t do any internet banking on it

It looks like I can’t get the AppleTV app from Google Apps Store for my 2017 Sony Bravia Android TV. Fuck knows why. The easiest work around is to get a HDMI cable and cast it from my Laptop to the TV. :lou_eyes_to_sky:

That or buy a new TV.
