Sorry to hear that (no pun intended)

It is very good, honestly

Subtitles & sound off? But that’d not give the best experience I guess.

Strange. I struggle with many shows, but not The Expanse. Had real problems when we moved the box here from the sandpit
Maybe tweak your audio settings on your TV? I tweaked mine and found a better balance

I need to fiddle around with the subtitles. The basic problem is that my artificial hearing has only 16 channels and struggles with background noise (worth remembering if I ever get to a meet-up) so background music really kills the dialogue. I’m struggling with new season of The Witcher too, and can’t figure the subtitles settigns.

I’ve got 2 channels (ears) and struggle with conversations in pubs, restaurants and some TV shows etc.

Maybe I need an ear test.

Pardon?

But seriously I’m not in hearing aid land but one ear is better than the other & likewise if there is background noise (eg pub) I can struggle if someone says something on mycwrong side!

I didnt realise how much I relied on watching peoples mouths move when talking to them until masks hit the world and suddenly lost the ability to hear them.

Well you’re all in denial…you have hearing loss.

This was my ā€œSotonian’s Milestoneā€ comment from May last year…

"This afternoon I picked up my first set of hearing aids.

After years of denial followed by trivialising and finally acceptance of the march of time I thought it was time to give in to the nagging and get my hearing tested.

It was much as I expected…top end hearing loss…mid-range not too bad, lower range good. It’s the classic age related hearing loss. I knew what was happening as I hadn’t heard the local Sky Larks on my dog walks for over 5 years, they are still there, just I could no longer hear them.

What I like about modern hearing aids is they can be tuned to your specific loss so they’re much better and more easily controlled than in the past. It will take a few days to get used to them but now Lady Slowlane is complaining I’m speaking too quietly. "

Just watched the latest episode of Bobba Fitt, holy shit visual effects have come a long way in the last year or so, hit me right in the nostalgias.

Also good episode for Clone Wars fans.

Timothy Olyphant

A most brilliant episode that didn’t try not

I am having something of a break from my sci-fi stuff at present. After the last decade or so of Marvel films, Star Wars saturation and Star Trek re-invention, I feel like I’ve eaten fuck all but cinematic sweets for a while.

I’m also really enjoying the book of boba fett, as are my kids, yet all I read are critics whinging about it.

Recently they’ve been complaining that we are getting episodes of the Mandalorian but with the wrong title. As though the title somehow makes the program bad. I can’t believe that any genuine Star Wars Fan gives a fuck.

This.
The opening episodes were tedious (I’m being polite) but can now see where it is going so all makes sense.
Ep6 is up there in Star Trek Prodigy Ep6 territory
Very good

But before I go all out on Boba
Prodigy just keeps getting better.
It seems Paramount + have done a deal with Sky so should be more widely available in UK later in the year.

Yes the season finale was most excellent
