I think there’s still some time to go before we get to the truth of the claims made in the interview.
One thing that is definitely real is the fallout. Piers Morgan had a lie-in this morning. Less of a household name, but perhaps equally important, the Society of Editors chief has had to quit after his statements.
I think Morgan was getting genuinely unhinged on the subject, so partisan he probably should have gone to GMB dressed as a Beefeater. 40,000 complaints, so you can say that maybe his exit is justified.
Ian Murray is not Morgan. Not on the same medium, doesn’t have the same pull. He’s gone regardless.
FWIW, I don’t think the media has been remotely responsible on race and is frequently more extreme than the public at large. Not comfy with this outcome though. With Piers, you can reasonably claim you’d have no chance to argue. With this, you can’t.
I found it difficult to put into words how it feels "watching the UK tear itself apart.
I did mean stuff like this as much as the Little Englander stuff.
Much has been (like Morgan) obnoxious overstating of personally held opinions but the problem goes much deeper.
Without taking her side, she has held up a mirror and the fact that nobody can rebut it (assuming it is true or not is irrelevant) is “uncomfortable”
Yeah, but you can see what is already happening. The bike ride thing @tigger linked.
Now Harry may have forgotten the pictured occasions and have remembered the worse ones. I remember having a cunt of a step-dad. I don’t really remember many of the good times, if there were any, because he was a cunt.
So if Harry was told “fuck off Ginge. You’re Hewitt’s spunk splash. I’ll tie a steak around your neck and you can play with the corgis”, he might have remembered that more prominently instead.
It’s not, though. There’s a media bukkake party going on, that’s all. I don’t know anyone who genuinely cares much either way about it whatever the twitterati might say, and I suspect you’d see it differently if you didn’t look at twitter. There’s not much difference to the Fergie and Johnny Bryan toesucking pics or the topless Kate storm, it’s just a big royal story, nothing more. Obviously the media are hyping it on steroids, they’re coining it in and the longer it continues the more they’ll trouser.
You’ve stolen that from Mills and Boon.
Actually, Biffa Bacon mostly.
Murray was, for years, editor of The Echo and I heard from a couple of friends who worked there that he was a complete cunt.
The only thing that concerns me on this subject is that someone is still talking about it. < yawn >
Ouch.
A lot to debunk in this but still.

Actually an opinion piece that’ll get many frothing at the mouth in the UK and pretty much everyone else in the world rolling on the floor laughing. Thanks for sharing.
Hadn’t heard about London GP surgeries being sold off though.
An interesting read. I remember siting in sales meetings back in my Guardian days in the 90’s discussing the dumbing down of the media and how it would effect us. It has certainly come to pass.
“What had gentle Europeans ever done to hurt Britain? Nothing at all.”
Of all the bullshit in that piece, this is probably the funniest. Never mind that WW2 bankrupted us, he doesn’t seem to be aware of that. What an absolute prize cunt
I think he was probably talking about the situation since the forming of the EU.
“…ever done…”?
Not all Europeans were belligerents in that one or the one before.
Where did I say they were? He’s claiming that no Europeans have ever harmed or tried to harm us, which is patent nonsense. The rest of the piece is packed with half truths presented as facts, that’s just the bit that jumped out at me initially. It’s just a deliberately inflammatory piece of pseudo-intellectual trolling.
