I would like to know what context the “how dark” comment was made in.
As someone that has grown up in a mixed race family, notorious for being fans of the tan for over half a century (a lot of interracial pairings) it’s a question that I’ve heard interracial couples ask each other and family members ponder on.
I remember once my granddad, who can be a bit unreconstructed, moaning about my cousin going out with a black lad.
“I don’t believe in mixed marriages”, he says, perhaps forgetting that my nan was white.
I just said “Granddad, are you fucking kidding?. You married a white lady. YOU PUT THIS IN US!”

I and my family are darker skinned and I was always getting comments about looking “foreign” growing up.
My wife’s niece is going out with a “ginge” and he gets plenty of good natured ribbing about it.
Going back to the whole crying thing. I’m sure that there are arguments and upsets in most families on a frequent basis. I would imagine that it happens I’m the RF as much as anywhere else. Philip is famed for his temper and rudeness as is Anne. If the Palace PR machine had to put the record straight on every family upset they probably wouldn’t get much else done! Not only that, by commentating on it they are admitting that something happened and as we know, the senior royals prefer to keep things in house.

He is being ridden on a bike hence he is going on a bike ride. It’s not rocket science.
See, I would say the likely interpretation of what he was saying was going out on his own bike with his friends, not being transported by his fake Dad for photo ops.
