😃 The Little Pleasures of Everyday Life

Indeed it would. If you do go for it this is a guy who has written quite a few guides for Sony camera…I have two .pdf downloads. This is his one for the a6000… https://friedmanarchives.com/alpha6000/index.htm

589 page guide? I was hoping to get through a couple of books, but one about cameras wasn’t on the list.
I’ll try to get the camera, play around with it while on the boat, then read his guide(by the second day, no doubt).
That or the daughter will nick it off me on the first day, discover a passion for photography and i’ll be back to square one :lou_facepalm_2:

8 more hours of fuckwitts and exasperation left.

It’s a book to dip in and out of. You think…How do I take an action sequence on ā€œcontinuous shutter releaseā€ and it tells you the settings to give you up to 11 sharp pictures a second…ideal for a Kingfisher thrashing a minnow to death on a branch. :lou_lol:
I’m expecting great things from you.

Lucky man. I have another week to go.

I need the book just to understand half of what you wrote. Ā£475 on Amazon with the 16-50mm lens(yeah i’ve justified it to myself).
As for great things, could we start a bit lower. Abject disappointment maybe?

You can learn most of the technical stuff you need in a few hours. Like any gadget these days it can do a multitude of tricks you’ll never use. Just learn the basics and add some of the tricks later.
If you want to concentrate on one style of photography, find out who are the greatest exponents of that discipline and look at as many of their pictures as you can. Nothing teaches you more about photography than looking at great pictures. :lou_lol:

Keep the advice coming (although i’m still concerned my daughter will nick it).
Does this look like a good deal?

Extra 55-210mm lens for £200.

I’m not sure you will find a lot of use for the 50mm 1.8 lens as you have the standard kit 16-50mm lens. The 55-210mm zoom makes more sense. You will then cover wide angle to telephoto. I used to have lots of lenses but in the end you rationalise because lugging all those extra lenses means you never have the right one on you camera when you need it.
Now I have a Sony A7 with the highly rated 24-105mm zoom and that’s practically all I need…convenience means a lot. :lou_lol:

Ā£579…after Ā£100 cashback. Good deal and a reputable seller.

I bought the one with the standard and 55-210mm lens before i seen your reply(to keen). If i get into it and need to do one more lens change i can live with that.
I now can’t wait for it to turn up. Hopefully tomorrow and i’ll be straight down the river until Sunday night

Lovely grub.

If you try it cut down on the butter & you do not need 500ml of olive oil (we didn’t)

Aircon - thank god this room has it

8am 29c, feels like 37c according to the app - car is going to be an oven and the only way the temp is going today is up

After 4 hours of walking the riverbank, camera in hand, not a sign of a kingfisher anywhere. So give up, get my rods out, set up and just as i cast one of the buggers flies straight past.
The pleasure. Never seen one on this stretch before.
Photography isn’t as simple as it appears, but appealing none the less.

Good start. :lou_lol:

Camera appears idiot proof. I’m photographing everything at the moment. Zoom lens is nice and easy to use.
