This reminds me of a chat with my son when he was about 14/15, as to how his cross country race had been.

“Actually pretty good for me Dad………assuming you agree that coming dead last is pretty good”

Not much of a runner but his sense of humour is decent

Stunning day today the sky the deepest blue, not a breath of wind 24C by mid afternoon
I headed to Młnka Forest part of the Tynek National Park - decent flat forest and over the past week people had been falling over Porcine 'Shrooms.

A good 2 hour trek and considering the hundreds of people visiting eaxlch day Mrs P_F was very proud of my efforts

Mushroom Carbonara tomorrow

This is a very edible fungi that appears on the same tree on our daily dog walk. It appears around May but only every other year.
I don’t bring it to people’s notice until it’s past its best, I like to watch its rapid development. Known as Chicken of The Woods…

And how did a German Death Metal Band get a gig there (that covered the travel vosts!

Been stuck indoors since Wednesday.
This morning a flat grey sky but high clouds and 0.4mm of rain forecast between noon and 1pm, I grabbed a softshell top and headed to the village Forest with Mrs P_F

Now tbh thousands of Poles have been out at 6am every day picking every forest clean one shroom measured just under a metre wide up in the mountains.

It started to rain but i needed kms and the terrain for my physio

I showed her my spot she walked through but i found 10 shrooms. The rain became heavy getting on for a cm came down.

I got 2km done Mrs P_F got lost. In her own forest (i am still alive so you can tell i did not laugh)
She was drenched - only wearing a hoodie.

Anyway she is slowly thawing out. Well pleased with our day’s efforts

Just had a very nice but very short conversation with a couple of Jehovah’s Witnesses who rang the doorbell at Slowlane Mansions.
I said, “Those within are beyond redemption, do come in”

Apparently they had a pressing engagement elsewhere. :lou_lol:

There used to be a house in the Woodley area of Romsey back in the day which had a prominent sign above the front door. ‘Jehovah’s Witnesses will be shot’. Pretty sure they wouldn’t get away with that today.

My man skills know no limits. Oven fan failed. Estimate to repair was £350 for callout, inspection and assessment. Then £80 an hour labour including travel time plus cost of parts.

Fuck that for a game of soldiers. Bought part online. Found YouTube demo. Did it myself. Cost £59.99 for fan. 6p for one screw from our awesome hardware shop. Total £60.05. Result

And relatively few expletives throughout the fitting process.:smile:
