The husband had a coat, like a short Top Hat and the curls hanging down.
Have seen some with more of a flattened round hat so no idea on the differences

There was a Hassidic family on the Red Jet when I was coming back from the IoW last Thursday. Only the father was wearing the traditional dress, i.e. Black suit, hat, two long curls and beard. The rest of the family would have blended into the rest of the crowd without being noticed.
Any indication why only the men wear this specific garb?
No, although in fact IF you looked closely, the ladies were wearing a distinctive uniform - long skirts, simple shoes, simple blouse/top no Jewelry - in fact the best description would be 1950’s housewife outfits and hairstyles.
Think back at your memory of them and maybe you see?
I noticed in other groups the younger boys had similar outfits I guess from around Bar Mitzvah age?
And there were other groups at EVERY place we visited. This is a big thing behind the curtains.
Not seeing much on Google about the IoW - seems a small community
They looked like holiday makers going home rather than residents.

Watching Rattle and the LSO doing Mahler 2. Awesome. It’s such a monumental work I’ve always struggled to cope with it but with peace and quiet and a decent Pinot Noir I’m actually taking it all in. It’s a life ambition to hear it live.
And Rattle is conducting the 75 minute long work from memory, without a score.

Another interminable Polish TV music festival with the Polish Rick Astley - Zenek has just randomly had the local equivalent of the 3 Tenors singing Hey Mambo, Mambo Italiano

It just finished, and yes, I must. It may take several more listenings to really understand and appreciate, but the scale and incredible depth really hit me.

I don’t like playing scrabble with Mrs TB - she always wins, and knows loads of obscure two letter words.
I think 2 letter words should be banned in scrabble.
My wife refuses to play Scrabble with me. I know all the two letter words.
