It’s summer.
Which means the “Summer Festivals” have started on TV.
(Yes there is a PROPER festival up in Gdansk over 4 days with Dua Lipa, Imagine Dragons, The Killers among the headline acts)
This week TVP1 is at their base of Opole.
It’s the 59th year.

They are rolling out old relics from previous years. Before each act they do a montage from each year (or 2)

Hilarious. So many generic rip offs.
So far have heard 4 Beatles, couple of BeeGees, an Englebert and even just now a Herman’s Hermits.

Better than usual Discopolo shit.
And unlike Rod Stewart, most can still sing

Sounds painful

That part was educational.
Part 2 is “modern bands”
These guys are “bonkers”, crazy popular, Mrs P_F is away in sing-a-long mode.
Random fact our neighbouring village Zabierzow has a festival - it is tomorrow.
This lot debuted their biggest ever hit pre covid.
I was there :scream:

I hate this stuff with a passion. Obviously, at the village bash, beer was 80p a pint. They were brilliant. I danced more than @Cobham-Saint at his works bash

Oh and in fact Gromee the local “DJ star” who done gone viral plays on this

Well this is remarkable for a small town they’ve brought in 4 acts I have actually heard on the radio.

A decent pop/rock band
With guitars and things.
None of that Discopolo shit.

Aha.
Just found out who they sound similar to.
Foster the People (who I saw at Glasto)
Even one track sounded a bit Pumped up Kicks vibey

I may need a medivac.
The EDM/Death Metal Fusion has added soaring Bryan Adams esque guitar solos.
And.
And.
And…

It’s not shit.
My foot is tapping.
Send help!

I love the smell of burning tooth in the morning

Getting Dentist appointment for next day.
Graunchy grundy thing went on for ages :scream:

Being in Poland when you need emergency dental work.
Would have cost 》£300 in sandpit

Through the door at home before my scheduled appointment to pick up my new passport. Had time to buy some cold beers and now sitting in the garden.

Small wins. :+1:

IF I pass tonight’s Covid Test THEN (how sweet) I have been asked for by the Border gang.
4 days in the delights of the Vito waiting to take someone/a group to anywhere in Poland (but usually Lidl’s or the local Coffee Shop)
Seems I made an impression. Can be boring as hell but I will earn a month’s pay for a week just before coming back to Blighty for a short break next month.

Yesterday I repaired one of my Seiko Kinetic watches…the one on the left. It’s about 7 years old and was bought to replace the middle one which is a 27 year old Seiko Kinetic which had stopped retaining it’s charge. I know what goes wrong with them…the capacitor that stores the kinetic energy from feverous masterbation no longer stores enough energy to keep the watch going. Sending it away for repair in 1999 cost £80 to renew the capacitor.

Today it costs around £130 to have my latest Seiko serviced., i.e. replace the capacitor…fuck that. YouTube is full of instructions to make the repair so I bought a watch repair kit with all the little tools screwdrivers and tweezers etc. and the appropriate capacitor ( just a rechargeable battery really). Was it an easy repair? Yes, with one proviso; if you need glasses for close-up work get a jeweller’s magnifier to clip to your glasses. The little screw you need to remove and replace are 1 mm long and look like a speck of dust when you try to replace them. The last one took 30 minutes to replace. If you work on the dining room table make sure you have a smooth white table cloth.
BTW the repaired watch is keeping good time. Now onto the other two. The '80s one on the right, the Seiko RC-4000 must be worth 20 quid by now. :lou_lol:
