You dreadful lot - I remember scratch & sniff tea shirts from when I was in Sharjah/Dubai (thank god they stopped making them) - but sadly the only āsniffsā I recall were things like lemon, strawberry, vanilla etc.

No - I was much earlier, 1978 to 1982 - the old pioneering days!
By the time you young people got there, you had constant electricity, and the wells at Daid weāre replenished with desalinated water from Sharjah power station.
Oh - and when you flushed the toilet, the poo went away, and actually had somewhere to go!
There was absolutely nothing at Um al Qain or Ras al Kaima, but they were fun places to go to at the weekend.
