I use Money Saving Expert. Has saved me plenty but it canāt guarantee that the supplier will not fail. Apparently four firms have shut down this week alone, due to the big hike in the market prices.
I feel your pain. I am currently dealing with two different energy suppliers (for two different properties) that have just gone out of business. One of the suppliers that has just taken over our account has massively misestimated our future usage.

lookaftermybills search for the best deal each year and automatically arrange transfer if they can save you more than Ā£50. Less likely to come a cropper if youāre not tied into a long deal and no stress as its all done for you.
I am hoping they start the same service for car and home insurance.
I used to fart around trying to get cheaper insurance deals for the cars, but in the end (and in a totally gratuitous plug for a local company I have no connection to) I gave up because Hyde Insurance in Woolston always seemed to find me a better deal than I ever ferreted out for myself, and as a bonus they are brilliant people to deal with. Really helpful and efficient, canāt recommend them highly enough. Theyāre just as good for home insurance and vans, and they do my public liability as well.

Isnāt the solution to simply renationalise energy supply?
I saw this and thought if gas and electricity is sold to the market at a standard price to all āsuppliersā these guys are only in the game to take whatever margin they can by cutting admin cost etc to the bone.
Theyāre simply fucked when the wholesale price rises above what they calculate the cost of buying the gas/electricity and their thin margin.
Not good business practice imho but itās how the UK seems to operate these days.

Seems you lot with so many competitors pay 2 or 3 times MORE than Europe.
Plus the fall out caused Fertiliser plants to shut down which caused CO2 production to fall so again you will have empty shelves.
Iād call it scare mongering but a Minister said it would be no problem this evening.

Trying to set up an Individual tax account for Mrs Waylander and keep failing the ID verification 'cos her tax affairs and NI number are still in her maiden name and all the other documents they keep asking for are in her married name.

Our business was trying to get a P11d dispensation - they have a 11 month backlog mainly because they sent everyone home during lockdown and didnāt have a plan how to distribute the post

Up to now Iāve been happy with Igloo Energy. Now looks like theyāre going bust along with all the small providers.
Is this just a market fixing exercise by the producers and big six providers? Feels like it.

Funnily enough they were really on the ball and hounded me to hell with threats of fines, legal actions and sanctions to pay back the child benefit payments that Mrs C_S claimed back in the day and āforgotā to cancel once she returned to work and was earning more than meā¦.apparently it was all my fault.
