📰 The latest news!

The difficulty is finding out what is true or not. A lot of stuff seems to get made up. How to verify it is a problem.

There’s still a lot of just accepting / picking out anything represents your own world view.

I agree, with the advent of the internet dodgy dealings and corruption, which were once kept quiet are now being exposed. But the trouble is look what happens when they are caught out. Take Lord Levy in the Guardian link, it is established that Lord Levy, a Labour peer FFS, failed to declare three interests linking him to Moshe Kantor, a billionaire Russian fertiliser businessman and ‘philanthropist’,( who would guess there is so much dosh to be made from what is basically shit). He admitted the ‘unintended oversight’ only after he got caught following inquiries about his work as a financial consultant, when asked about this work he refused to answer. Failing to declare earnings and links to private companies and individuals, especially billionaire Russian fertiliser businessmen constitutes serious misconduct in public office. But nothing is done, there are not even any sanctions against them, never mind criminal charges. They are above such things, the self appointed elite. “I have apologised to the clerk for what was an unintended oversight.” says the Noble Lord. “I have made every effort to act with total integrity in my being a member of the House of Lords and also in all of my charitable work”. That’s it. Case closed. Contemptuous of the rest of us.

I don’t think is that difficult. Pick a single subject/incident(Syria, Russia or Assange are perfect examples) and read the BBC/Guardian(or other). Be aware of what they claim, links provided(or not) and who if anyone they quote(always the same two or three people?). Then go compare that against places like Consortium News, Jonathan Cook, Mark Curtis or Media Lens. Who gives you more facts(with linkable corroboration) and doesn’t try to hide their opinions(we all have them about everything).
The hard bit is spending the time learning who writes about what(and how factually correct) and how often. This is where the laziness kicks in and you go back to the smoothing lies.

I had some business dealings with a certain Lord who I won’t name which was the most unprofitable bit of “corporate” business I have ever done. He had one of my team in tears for telling her to lie to obtain preferential terms for a product/service. He even asked if the product/service provider was being, in his words, “AS” for refusing to back down to his demands.

He also likes to tell stories about his Labour contacts and being a king-maker.

Joe Pesci just called Robert de Niro a Jew mutherfucker in Casino (I’m watching it on Dave, it’s more than half way through so not even worth tuning into Dave jaVu if you’re interested). Does that make Joe Pesci unelectable in this country?

It’s nothing to do with the prevalence of privately owned guns in the States, though. No sirree, nothing at all.

That’s what you have to pay for disgruntled employees…just the going rate…nothing to see here.

Has anyone else missed this? First I’m hearing of it.
