There is a 5.8m surge/wave heading towards Krakow on the Vistula.
We’ve got everyone in town helping inc the President.
Send wellies, not raining at the moment, some respite overnight & tomorrow but the next weeks’ forecast is dreadful

On a positive note, with weather systems sending rain here they are less likely to hit Glasto :lou_eyes_to_sky:

In the you had one job category. Cannot believe organisers keep doing this happens way too often, it is simple logic x number of people entering y space in z minutes.

At least when Pap had a 3 hour wait at Glasto it was because the gates weren’t open until 9am

It was quite warm yesterday but was a little surprised people were fainting so much. Maybe a few pre-festival drinks caused some vomiting? I’d have left a lot sooner. No way would I wait 3 hours.
I am off to All Points East tonight. So far not hear any issues.

Edit - just seen there were sound issues last night for The Strokes.

Expect fluctuations in the cost of petrol etc in the short term

When you say fluctuations I am assuming you mean massive drop in prices at the pumps? Happy days :lou_sunglasses:

Ummm.
Quite the opposite unfortunately.
Seen a hike here already couldn’t work out why, but if the Russia supply is tainted that takes a BIG chunk out of commission, not only the actual volume they ship, but the amount of clean oil that now has to have the extra process of being mixed with the tainted stuff.
Bloody lucky this didn’t happen in winter tbh

Ah well, I have a voucher for 8p off a litre at Sainsburys so I’m alright :lou_sunglasses:

Today we are going to pretend that we are being invaded…

Blockquote

We would like to inform you that on 28-30 May 2019 the RENEGADE-SAREX-19 exercise with the use of population alarm systems will take place. As part of the exercise, on 28 May 2019 the use of alarm signals (an acoustic signal emitted by alarm sirens) relating to an airborne hazard is planned’).

During the training, the training will be transmitted by radio with practice warning messages concerning the violation of the airspace of the Republic of Poland by an aircraft of RENEGADE status, which poses a potential threat to the civilian population.

Therefore, it is possible to activate alarm sirens in a specific area of the county.

The types of alarms, alarm signals and warning messages are specified in the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 7 January 2013 on the systems for detection of and notification of contaminants and the jurisdiction of authorities in these matters (Journal of Laws of 2013, item 96).

We appeal to the residents not to treat the transmitted signals as a real threat.

Too much Chlorine in the swimming pool means Trump will launch a cruise missile attack as a prelude to nominating a new Head of State. Keep your head down.

Ain’t the British establishment just wonderful! All in it together eh? Time to close this affront to democracy down.

Pigs who eat.

I am a big fan of abolishing the House pf Lords altogether.

Mu alternative would be enlarging the Commons, and electing half the house through proportional representation. Keep the local link. Sort out a lot of the disenfranchisement.

I still think we need a body to reign-in the shysters and con-people in the lower house

Maybe make the upper house fully elected - by proportional representation as you say, but give them real power to sanction stupid political decisions.

Well here’s a radical extension to my idea. How about excluding political parties from taking the geographically allocated seats?

We could mandate that they have to be held by an independent resident of the constituency in question.

It would immediately sort the issue of professional politicians overpowering the Commons as it does now. It would almost force looking the public in the eye by design. Who knows? It might even encourage a bit of civic virtue.

I know members of parties are people too, but they’re constrained, vibrated into shape by the decisions of their party conference, rules and regulations.

Not that it matters, but Labour are getting my vote come what may in the generals, but I don’t regret leaving it. After getting suspended for tweeting #JustVotedJez (and some swear words in the past) and getting reinstated without comment bu the Compliance Unit, I have felt constrained.

I’m free as a bird now. Free enough to reveal that Compliance Unit is an anagram for Main Police Cunt.

:exclamation: Tip, organisation formers. Never call your thing a unit. It only takes one C to be an anagrammed cunt of some description, and you have a vowel to spare.

All campaign funding from a heavily controlled central pool please. A few more ideas possibly?
Can we ban hedge fund people from all politics. Everything they do is surely a conflict of interests (unless you think they screw over the money people).
Then everyone else from the city.
Then anyone with links to the SS(that’s the MSM out).
Then anyone that didn’t go to a state school.
I’ll narrow it down a bit more lateršŸ˜‚

Social media is a great equaliser, and besides, many of the horror stories you mention just aren’t going to materialise as viable candidates.

Thirty years ago, this post would have had my solid support. The web had just been born, tiny compared to what it is now.

Today, when anything can go viral and folk get pulled up for dodgy actions, I think the playing field is a lot more level.

The power of social media is a phenomenon. I said to you a couple of years ago that the rise of real knowledge from it would take years (think i said a decade). Looking back on that, what a fucking idiot i was. It’s an instant thing, how could that take years :lou_facepalm_2:
It’s been a breath of fresh air seeing people become angry because they know the headlines are a lie, even before the lie is printed. It’s also been nice watching the rise of some real independent journalists.
That’s the good part. Unfortunately the people with control over it all just happen to be the very same people that have the most to lose when we find out about the lie(s). Solve that problem and the truth stands a chance.
