Welcome to the daft world of the maritime industry - this has been going on for years - that’s why we can all enjoy cruising around the world, because 90% of those out of sight of the punters are paid fuck all

I suspect the Union is reaching a little bit with that particular hourly rate . Plus it will be only some of the crew ie the ratings (not that it makes it any better), More senior ranks will be paid much more in line with market rates
