Basically though, as much as we hate the idea of it, football IS a business now first and foremost and a clubs chairman/owner can hardly come out and say ‘we have high hopes of maintaining mid table mediocrity for the foresable future’… That wouldn’t go down well with the shareholders.
On the flip side, they can’t say the opposite and promise league titles and cups. Expectations would be raised as would eyebrows, and it’d probably come crashing down as they failed to deliver. They, the owners, are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. Silence is probably golden. Let’s let the football do the talking. A nice 3 nil victory tomorrow night would be a start!

Seems like someone’s agent is playing teams off each other if they’re willing to double offers.
If you’re paying £10m+ for a player, that seems reasonable wages(cheap actually).
That still leaves about £100k saved from the wages of Gabbiadini and Austin(if he goes).

More evidence (not that it’s needed) that being apparently shit hot in the U18s, especially as a striker, often means absolutely nothing if you don’t continue to develop. Shame but it’s the right decision for sure.

Not sure matching a valuation has anything to do with it with this one. Clearly they don’t want to sell him because they are in the play off hunt. With their transfer embargo in place they cannot even replace him, plus there is no time to do so.
Sounds like we are going with what we have got. Interesting to see if Austin now stays…
