Still counts for the square sum of fuck all.
I said top 10 this year, its a shite league so there shouldn’t be an issue…
Even a blind squirrel finds the occasional nut
Ah well, fuck it. Despite his stupid barnet I would have liked Williams to come here.
My strategy would now be to sack off league position and go balls out for the FA cup, we’ll easily get another 10 points with half the season to go and dire Wolves (see what I did there ) with their poor form are there for the taking.
Brandon Williamsto play in the reserves at Utd for the rest of the season then. Sod him.
We’re skint and we’ve got Stephens at the back, the rest of the season will be a rollercoaster of lapses, slips, looking lost and being generally vacant.
Perhaps he doesn’t want to go to Liverpool via us.
Yes please!
2 Saints stories from David Ornstein in the Athletic - Josh King would seem like a decent enough swap deal and interesting that we’d be happy with an obligation to buy in AMN loan deal
King to Southampton, Long to Bournemouth on the table
Southampton and Bournemouth are in last-minute negotiations about a shock transfer deadline day deal that would see Saints sign Joshua King and Shane Long go in the opposite direction, The Athletic can reveal.
King has been heavily linked with a return to the Premier League and an agreement could emerge in the final hours of the window after clubs entered talks over the weekend.
The proposal is for Norway forward King, who has scored 48 goals in 161 Premier League appearances and 17 in 51 for his country, to join Southampton on a permanent basis for a small fee and Republic of Ireland striker Long to head the other way on loan with an option to buy.
It is a scenario that is thought to rest on King accepting the terms offered by Saints and then speaking with manager Ralph Hasenhuttl to be persuaded they are the right destination for him. Everton and Fulham are among the other top-flight clubs to show an interest in the 29-year-old after Bournemouth finally lowered their asking price for a player whose contract expires in June.
Three main options for Maitland-Niles
After days of negotiations the short-term future of Ainsley Maitland-Niles will be settled in the coming hours and the current expectation is that he will leave the Emirates Stadium on loan.
Arsenal are believed to have had contact on Sunday with Leicester City, Southampton and Newcastle United to discuss their interest in the 23-year-old. Now decisions must be made.
If Maitland-Niles leaves on a temporary basis, his parent club are said to want him to be deployed at full-back — whereas the academy graduate has a strong desire to play in midfield.
Leicester are the England international’s preferred destination and if a move to the King Power Stadium does not materialise there is a good chance he will choose to remain at Arsenal. The Foxes have considered taking Maitland-Niles on loan with an option to buy but Arsenal would rather it was an obligation and might not want to do business with the 2016 top-flight champions anyway because of a potential rivalry in the second half of the season and beyond.
Arsenal would like Maitland-Niles to join Southampton and the desire is reciprocated by Saints, to the extent that they are understood to be happy with the loan including that obligation to buy.
Newcastle, who are also keen on Gunners midfielder Joe Willock, rank as an outside possibility for Maitland-Niles while West Brom’s pursuit was ended by Arsenal not wanting him to go there.
Double yes please!
From BBC sport:
"Joshua King has stayed at Bournemouth for the last two transfer windows despite plenty of external interest.
Today it looks like Bournemouth have another decision to make. Their form in the Championship has nose-dived. One point from four games leaves them right on the edge of the play-off places and King has not scored a single league goal.
So do the Cherries cash in now, knowing King can leave for nothing in the summer.
Southampton are sniffing round."
Swop deal? Josh King for Shane?
Valery on his way to Birmingham on loan? Wow! We must be confident of getting players in.
Watford have made a signing of their under-23s, picking up 22-year-old midfielder Mitchel Bergkamp - and yes, that’s the son of Dennis. He’s set to play alongside Maurizio Pochettino, son of Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio, who joined from Tottenham yesterday.
The Hornets development side already has Max Statham, whose father Brian played for Spurs in 80s/90s, and Henry Wise, who was carried by his Dad Dennis when he lifted the FA Cup for Chelsea in 2000.
So if you’ve got a parent who played professional football, why not head down to Vicarage Road? You’ll probably get a game…
The Wolves Bazzer??
Richard Hobbs, Wolves Fancast
Wolverhampton Wanderers
The further the transfer window progressed and Wolves form slumped lower, the need for investment in the squad has been increasingly apparent.
Long term injuries to Jonny and Jimenez as well as not replacing the likes have Diogo Jota have left Wolves light in multiple areas.
The signing of Willian Jose looks promising to replace the goals were sorely missing from Jimenez.
Wolves did bring back Morgan Gibbs White from a loan spell in Swansea in the hope he could another creative outlet, but has had little chance to make an impact. The club even brought back forgotten man Patrick Cutrone, despite a falling out with Nuno last year. However following the arrival of Jose, he’s back out on loan, leaving Wolves with their new loan signing and 18 year old Fabio Silva.
In a nutshell, Wolves needed to be more active this window following if they wanted to push on and keep up with those teams around them who had taken it up another level.
I would love Wolves to bring in either a dynamic, all action central midfielder or a solid centre back who would enable Wolves to play with a back four. However, it’s more likely Wolves will sign an highly rated academy player who’ll never get minutes in the senior team. I just genuinely hope I’m wrong.
From what I have read the Valery move is dependent on Us getting cover in (AMN). Bournemouth want Long but we want king in return which doesn’t sound likely.
