The 2016 close season transfers thread

think we’re talking cross purpose. That article says we offer £2.5m per year, and Everton is offer £6m per year.

No we are offering 5m, ah I see over 2 years, I read that as 5m a year over 2 years. No you are right. 2.5 to 6m is a silly difference.

Agent confirms Southampton interested in formidable defender, signed with Euro giants until 2022
Southampton fans are hoping they can keep hold of their key assets, as well as bring in some fresh faces. According to talkSPORT, Saints are looking at bringing in Sporting Lisbon star Ruben Semedo Aged 22.

Southampton linked with Werder Bremen midfielder Zlatko Junuzovic.

Pelle has long been linked with a move away from the club. Unfortunately, doesn’t look like his preferred destination is available, but he’s in the unfortunate position where we won’t give him a long-term contract and other clubs will.

Stoke is being mentioned.

Not sure how I feel about this. He’s a great player on his day, an effective one most others. I was fine with him going back to Italy, but would rather see if we can keep him about if he’s thinking of going to Stoke.

Edit. It’s amateur hour - wrong thread.

I was expecting a Pelle guest appearance.

Everton now being mentioned as well.

I really rate Pelle, not cool opinion but technically he’s great.

The papers are putting a figure of 9m about. That’s basically what we paid for him.

Sterling £49m, Benteke £32m - Pelle £9m?

I don’t think so.

He’s an international centre forward.

With 1 year left on his contract and not being paid half as much as those 2 either…

Also 30+ and in comparison to Sterling, more foreign.

and not as good as either of those.

That is a very debateable point, I would suggest, on their respective days, Pelle is miles better than Benteke and you can’t compare Sterling and Pelle, very different roles. Pelle holds the ball up for other players, Sterling runs into dead ends and loses the ball more often than not.

Perhaps he’s not, but I think he’s worth more than a fifth of Sterling.

I like Pelle too and dont get the grief he gets from some on TSW. Ok, he is not as mobile as Shlong but he is a different sort of player and when we play to his strengths he has been excellent for us.
