But Liverpool - and Jurgen Klopp - have known him for much longer. He was a target in the days of Brendan Rodgers, while Klopp was keen on him when in the Borussia Dortmund dugout.
Liverpool are a much bigger team than Saints and they’ll have European football soon. He would also be working under one of the biggest names in football, so I think its harsh to say it’d just be about money.

With the modern footballer It’s ALL about the money. They hide behind the Champions League/European football line, as most big clubs are in the Champions League European football. This does not work for Liverpool now, but you will not hear any of our old players asking to leave!

I did Phil. And I went to loads of his concerts. As a big Genesis fan in the 70s it took me a while to realise that I didnt have to like him as well. To be fair though, in those days he had hidden well the fact that he was actually a grade A cunt.

Shane Long is apparently a target for Spurs and Liverpool. As much as I like him, he’s 29. I’d be very conflicted about a big offer coming our way (and it’d need to be, we don’t want to sell).

Don’t think I mentioned 12m, that would be super silly. You are right though, as some were getting on his back when we had our mid November - December dip in form! All I am saying is £1m is not going to break the bank when you are paying £5m.
