šŸ–– Star Trek returning to small screens :starfleet:

I’m not offended by Lower Decks. It has been done before. There is better Trek and there is better animated humour.

I don’t necessarily need those things. Even The Orville realised that.

Star Trek Prodigy has finished S1.
20 episodes to watch with kids/grandkids.
Again, it IS proper Trek. The glue that holds it together are 2 characters-Hologram Janeway & Admiral Janeway. She is superb but so are ā€œthe kidsā€ who basically end up ā€œstealingā€ a prototype Starship powered by a new drive.
They do stuff kids will love AND do Trek stuff.
Marvellous and taking my laptop to uk on next trip to binge it with the kids.
(Oh, and like the Finale of Lower Decks, the 2cpart finale is superb. We get to see some much loved Starships, including The Defiant)

What a crying shame that the writers of Picard pissed away two seasons of mediocrity.
Because S3 Ep1 opens up as proper Trek - finally

Show drops outside US Tomorrow I found it on my 3rd string provider.

An excellent start even if Dr Beverly Crusher looks like Cruella DeVille

Reading more about this season, they have basically made a 10 hour TNG goodbye movie.
Certainly Ep1 has a more movie feel than before, the USS Titan is quite a sight and there are a lot of moments that call back to scenes in the old movies that felt right.

I shall watch ep1 tonight - hope you haven’t bigged it up and it’s actually shite

Yes, proper Star Trek - with old blokes having a wee jokes!

Bit of a shame series 1 & 2 didn’t go more Trek but I enjoyed them as well.

Phew.
Not been so tense waiting for a review on here for ages!

It almost got exciting and seems the trekkie world are in love with The Titan making it’s first real entrance into the Franchise.

(For non geeks, it was never seen but was Will Rikers’ first command as a Captain after TNG)

Still think Dr Beverley Crusher was Cruella DeVille on a bad hair day in the opening scenes

Yes - same comment @ chez C_S

Great opener - annoying episodes dropping weekly- would happily binge the lot.

And certainly pulled out all the stops on Cinematography
Got a sneaky feeling that Captain Shaw may be a character

Agree

Seems it’s all about getting the old team back together for another space yarn - marvellous and enjoyable though.

It’s not shit but there seems to be a very obvious reason for it not being shit. It’s a ten hour re-tread of Wrath of Khan so far.

  1. Crew of Enterprise separated and need to reform? :white_check_mark:
  2. Secret son of protagnist? :white_check_mark:
  3. Decent actor cast as main villain :white_check_mark:
  4. Cat and mouse against superior craft in nebula? :white_check_mark:

I’d expect one or more beloved crew members to pop clogs ahead of series end.
