šŸ–– Star Trek returning to small screens :starfleet:

Ummmm, Episode 4 actually, already.

Thought it was a somewhat cathartic episode, slow paced and nothing going on.

Damn, I got confused and thought one of the older Tal hosts was Jadzia Dax.

Detmeyer on the treadmill, pass me a bucket of ice water please…

Felt like a Trek episode though. I didn’t mind that it was slow moving. It’s the constant fast moving shit that does my tits in, so the fact that they essentially took a week off to cope with shit was welcome.

Bit of confusion over what the Trill were, I thought. They’re not the symbiotes, they’re the mould lined humanoids a la Jadzia. Joined Trill is them plus the symbiote.

Also, I like Michael Burnham but she has to be the most inconsistent character in the show. I feel I know Georgiu better than her. Both versons.

Ah yes confused with not yet uploaded Mandalorian.

Cathartic, Detmeyer yes.
And needed.
But SO upset Jadzia Dax wasn’t around.
Ah Jadzia…

True story. My daughter is named after Kira Neris.

She was at school with a girl called Jadzia.

DS9 loving parents obviously getting busy in the late 90s

Burnham with proper hair works though.

My only issue with the whole Trill canon is the enormous image of a Budgie on a cardboard box that pops up all the time.

That’s a hairstyle, not a character trait.

I think the year ā€œaloneā€ is supposed to have changed her, she is certainly more chill and less confused looking than before.

I wasnt thinking of marrying her so personality wasnt at the forefront…

But. Others have noted that in the show & on blogs. A year alone with Book? They didn’t? She is still the same?
We saw ā€œsomethingā€ of that with the Trill guards.
Think there are some story arcs to drop in as we move along.
And what’s with ā€œanotherā€ secret invisible friend. Gotta be something in that as well

:crazy_face::nerd_face:

Skipped through all that and am just cranking up the fire to settle down and watch. I’ll give you my critical opinion in a bit. Laters. :+1:

How to review without spoilers…

Another strong Trek episode.
Another strong serialisation chapter.

Trek? Problem/mission. Fly somewhere, encounter problem, science the shit out of it.
Serial story?
Moves forwards, answers old asks new questions.

Another big like, another step in the intellectual growth of Saru.

Great stuff

Note: thank fook I started rewatching The Blacklist. Otherwise I’d have spent the whole episode wondering where I saw Oded Fehr before.
(Recurring Mossad Agent in Blacklist)

Yeah.
No spoilers , no lead characters murder endangered species babies/eggs. Good stuff

Hah!

For once Fam C_S watched this week’s episode without spoilers from @pap or @Polski_Filip !!!

Excellent mission based episode. Lots of hints about the future- what’s the references to the cello theme all about?

I would like to express my pride in what has been accomplished here. After two whole seasons of @Cobham-Saint moaning about people not ā€œspoilingā€ him with Star Trek that had been out for several days, we, like Discovery, are reaching a new phase.

CobFam is watching Discovery as it is released

This breeds exciting forum discussion possibilities, like Cobs weighing in before I do, and me having the chance to vehemently disagree

Allow me to do just that

The Discovery visits Federation HQ. People are dying from some unknown phage. The Discovery offers to find the source of a cure, because only they can do it in time.

Cue much validation from the future Starfleet characters after they see the exploits of their near 1000-year younger counterparts.

This is the first episode of this season that has annoyed me, and it is mostly the seed ship that annoys me. Having one ship carrying all of the Federation’s known seeds seems like a particularly precarious way of going about recording the whole of Federation seed history.

It’s bollocks. You store that shit someplace else. You’d make offcuts and copies. This is a long running Federation ship that seems to have an alien and asymmetric design for its storage containers. Who designs a fucking interface like that?

Honestly, this is precisely the sort of shit that destroyed Discovery last time. It doesn’t make sense even with the sci-fi weighed in.
