Presumably Jennings took the offer of a nightwatchmen. Wonder if Burns had the same offer, or whether it would only be made to the senior batsmen. Could have opened with Anderson and Leach if Burns had been offered and accepted!
I suspect that Jennings was excused opening duties, as he was fielding at Bat-Pad all day, under a lid.
