Should the rich pay for your kid's free lunch?

… and talking of ‘hypocrisy detection’ I noticed you did not seem to be too concerned by the hypocrisy shown by MPs in the Commons vote when I pointed that out to earlier in the thread? - Why is it wrong of someone to go against their principles on this issue to do what they think is best for their children, yet perfectly fine for MPs to go against their principles in the commons for fear of a backlash from the electorate? You want it both ways again pap depending on what the issue is… not for the fist time either

… ‘hypocrissy detection…’ you are posting like a bellend on this one… :lou_facepalm_2: :lou_lol:

Yes I am being a hypocrite but also honest, would you send your child to an underperforming school so your principles hold firm?

I wouldn’t if I could help it, I don’t agree with fee paying schools but the reason people send children to fee paying schools or one of them is the state isn’t good enough in some areas, it’s not about money being thrown at the school either sometimes it’s the areas in which the schools are in.

If we could afford it at the time and we were still in Liverpool it is something we would consider, who wouldn’t, my school is linked to Speke which was the 2nd most deprived ward in the Country, the school is struggling even though it’s new and had millions thrown at it, the social problems are horrendous so again I ask you what would you do? Put your child in the firing line for your principles? Explain that to them in later life, they’ll love you for it.

Are you allowed to send your kids to posh school if you join the Sotonians Soviet, or do you have to saddle them to a lifetime of flipping burgers because of your principles?

Hmmm, that largely depends if you’re willing to meet in person at the Rockstone for all AGMs…

Blimey. It’s all coming out now.

Just for the record, I never said anything of that sort whatsoever. You just did though.

So you can send you kids to posh school but only if you turn up to eat the Burgers at Rockstone flipped by the kids of those who didnt.

Cool

Size of the burgers at the Rockstone I doubt if they flip them, more like roll them over!!

Or a lifetime of statistically outperforming independent school kids at university.

While I doubt there are many old Etonians flipping burgers for Ronald McDonald, it’s something of a nonsense to suggest that comprehensive schools are merely extended training programs for fast food joints.

Of course, it’s sneering attitudes like this that put many off going for paid work at somewhere like McDs in the first place. Then you’ll complain that “they don’t want to work!”

Personally I have to say I don’t have a problem with people sending their kids to private schools.

What I do have a problem with is people who don’t have the courage to stand by their convictions.

Does that include people who have a hissy fit and state they’re never posting on a forum again only to reappear a few weeks later?

I am being flippant (as opposed to flipping) - this whole thread has descended into nothing more that a playground “my school is better than your school” rant with very little basis in fact.

If as you say, the independents perform less well at Uni, then you have to ask why so many seemingly bright parents spend £6bn a year on private education - they can’t all be wrong can they?

There’s the articles that @saint-or-sinner posted. They have plenty of basis in fact.

Yeah right. That’s like saying Popular Religion X must be correct because it has so many adherents.

Have you not been following Pap’s rational CB? You know, its not about quality of education as all who leave indepndent schools are thick arrogant tossers, (whose parents must be rich so arrogant tossers as well…) its just so that our kids dont have to put up with being in the same classes as the great unwashed… 6Bn seems such a small price to pay for such privilage…

It does come to something when your only out is to play the man or misrepresent what has been said ( some would say “lie” ).

Now, as I admitted to @intiniki over the weekend, I _am _winding you up, because it’s so easy and rather fun.

Didn’t they teach you not to bite at your independent grammar? Did they not point out the implicit perils? How did they instruct you to deal with a situation like this, where you’re basically being undone by a scumbag from a school on the edge of a sink estate?

Bloody Hell Pap, just how big is the chip on your shoulder?

C’mon, @pap is well balanced, he has chip on both shoulders!! And judging by his dimunitve stature I would say they are quite heavy and he has had them from an early age, stunted his growth see.

Maybe an indpendent grammar school oik fingered his girlfriend once!! :lou_lol:

Dunno, but chips would be free for every primary school kid in the country under the proposals. And probably only served on a Friday, as not to turn them obese or owt.

Just not sure, you have this wind up stuff worked out (perhaps a legacy of the poor quality education received in Peasantville primary and then spending too much time consoling 16 year old single mothers in Shithole Comp?) ‘Basically undone’… basically aload of shite… you seem more obsessed by scoring cheap points, than presenting any coherent argument not driven by innate prejedices, built on limited evidence - so your defence is to play the old ‘wind up card’ and ignore the questions posed.

Its a pretty common theme amongst those whose ‘ball’ it is in the playground…

Fascinating points, @areloa-grandee

Not at all innately prejudiced :lou_facepalm_2:
