Just because we are getting whooped by Claude and his current crop of players, let’s not pretend that we witnessed anything like a variation of tactics and playing style last season.
People point to the cup final but that’s a one off game where every single player is playing out of their skin because they want to win a medal for their own personal career accolades, not necessarily for the manager or the club.
Pellegrino has at least shown he will play different systems according to the opposition. We very nearly beat Arsenal with such an approach. If Yoshida had won his header or VVD contested for it with Giroud instead then maybe we would have.
