Sort yourself out, mush.

It’s Chamberlain-esque* when someone wants peace.

Yet Nobby Churchill wants something else but claims to want peace.

PETER HITCHENS: Why I blame the arrogant West for the Ukraine crisis

Craig Murray seems to be suggesting that the West and Putin basically agreed the sanctions on individuals upfront via Oleg Deripaska.

You are obsessed with Putin.

You’re trying to make the issue all about Putin when the underlying issue is about the relationship between Russians and the various peoples that constitute their neighbours.

If you cannot see that Russians have reason to fear NATO imperialism as much as their neighbours have to fear the legacy power of Soviet imperialism, and instead you want to reduce the discussion to one about your grievances against an imagined Putin boogeyman, then there is no point in trying to advance any discussion with you.

I’m not saying @Not_Barry is gullible, but if someone told him the reason the sky was blue was because there was a man with a big ladder going up to paint it every day, he wouldn’t question it.

He’d be looking for the man with the fucking ladder.

NATO hasn’t invaded Ukraine, Russia has.

NATO is a red herring and I hope you’re intelligent enough to know it, your Chamberlainesque attitude will consign 1000’s of deaths.

NATO hasn’t invaded Ukraine, or Georgia, what are they doing in Transnistria?

Can you explain that tweet, what was the west 1990’s carve up? Ha Ha that’s a cracker that, a denial of nations wanting their own affairs, would you object tanks rolling back into Poland? Hungary? To restore the old order?

Poland and Hungary are nato members so you do know what that would mean, right?

So because they’re NATO members its bad but if not then its ok? Illegal invasion wherever it is is bad, simply call it out and stop excusing it with whataboutery, Christ if Putin comes here the red carpet will be rolled out.

So been doing a bit of reading up on this
have to say it’s an odd one. I don’t support Putin “invading”, but
looks to me like a systematic fuck up on the West’s side over the last 30 years.

The key difference is that those ex Warsaw Pact members who are now NATO members joined out of their own free will

Ukraine doesn’t seem to be getting the luxury of self determination and free choice

Ukraine had all that until it decided to have a coup.

Was it really a coup? Guess that depends on your view point.

A December 2016 survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology found that 34 percent of respondents in the government-controlled Ukraine regarded the change in power as an “illegal armed coup”, while 56 percent regarded it as a “popular revolution”.

When the CIA director is about at the exact same time as a coup, it’s a coup.

Also, it doesn’t matter what a 2016 survey says. It matters what the constitution says. According to the constitution, the transfer of power didn’t have enough backing.

Not sure I necessarily agree with that

If that were the case then you are saying that every revolution that ever occurred was a coup, because sure as shit any dictator would ensure their “constitution” would name them leader for life.

The vast majority of revolutions are also coups. It’s only really South Africa I can think of that wasn’t, and few call it a revolution.

From BBC

“ It is not clear if any new Russian troops have yet been sent into the two regions, which are run by Moscow-backed separatists.

Earlier, Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said Mr Putin had gone “full tonto” in escalating the Ukraine crisis, adding that he had “no friends, no alliances” internationally.”

“Full tonto”?! :joy:

Good to see a clear and level head in the responses to the situation from our Government

Ffs :man_facepalming:

They know some madmen will lap it up.
