🐦 Let's bin social media

Tbh, it’s tough to hold the phone and…

Ha! you’ve just reminded me of an old boy i worked with who’s nickname was Tugger - short for Tugwell or something, but obviously referencing other things. When i was fresh of out college and green as grass he was the Brickies foreman on the site i was based on. I remember one day on a site walk around with the Client who was a nice guy and was always happy to chat with the lads. Tugger was a brash geezer from Pompey and this day he was wearing a Pompey shirt.
ā€œAh, are you a footbal fan?ā€ the Client asks
ā€œYepā€ says Tugger.
ā€œPompey fan?ā€
ā€œFucking obvious that, i’d sayā€
ā€œAha, umm, do you go to games?ā€
ā€œNoā€
ā€œWhy notā€
ā€œI only likes football 'cos when my mates are at the game i can go round and fuck their wivesā€

Hmm, interesting article methinks…

Twitter and Facebook have caused themselves huge issues

They are going to struggle to argue they are not responsible for content after this

They obviously are when it suits them

It’s the employees as much as anything else. These places attract the brightest minds in the world, a lot of them are programmers, and as you know, we programmers are always 1.

At least when life has kicked the shit out of you a bit you get a bit of nous.

Hyper-bright kids, all the intelligence, none of the wisdom, making up the majority of the workforce of powerful communications conduits.

What can possibly go wrong?

But, on Twitter at least, religious groups don’t incite people to go around and kill other people, if they do then they will fall foul of twitter’s ā€œcommunity rulesā€ and get themselves banned…

I’m going to post this in the social media thread as it’s slightly off-topic for this thread.

And infesting another thread Bob?

Corrected for you
Dont want you getting blasted by no Eurovision Typhoons

This’ll open a massive can of worms and one that closes down debate further and creates small sub-divisions of agreement as opposed to discussion and concession.

Just a little bit further down the road to social fundamentalism and further away from each other, good little liberal fascists, well done…

What will? Are you responding to Phil’s post immediately before yours or something else?

It makes no sense

Another thread to swerve today I guess

Stop being bitchy, the post was written openly and to everyone.

Why?

Not being funny, but Barry puts up with dogs abuse on here and even though he deserves a good deal of it, I’ve never seen him do this.

This is a discussion forum and yours is an anti-discussion post.

One could possibly say that that is what social media is at the moment anyway. It’s all just echo chambers and confirmation bias

People follow people with similar views and engage with people with similar views…

I try not to, I’m here aren’t I?

Lol

What was he aiming at with the post. No reference to anything in particular.

Am muting more and more posts these days and that’s 100% down to the style of posting by Mr Sanchez.

Clearly I’m definitely l not a fan and you’ll have seen comments recently from others which suggest many others aren’t either.

I guess I’ll just carry on muting topics until there’s nothing left to read / participate in.

Not too fussed tbh.

Your site, your rules - free speech ā€˜n’ all that

:joy:

Rule 34

I’d ask yourself to put yourself in Barry’s shoes.

How would you feel if people were saying ā€œI’m not posting on this thread anymore because of Cobsā€?

I’ve seen comments from other people and a fair deal of them are fair enough, but I’ve never liked mobs and have never believed that they know best.

They destroyed decent discussion on SaintsWeb and the mob mentality of certain posters here after the Brexit result almost destroyed this place. We’ve still never recovered.

He’s ok, he’s more than entitled to his opinion.
