Yeah people do tend to forget Flight 655, which seemed perhaps more intentional than this.
They did blow up a passenger airliner and kill a load of innocent people. It doesn’t really matter whether they meant to do it or whether tensions were raised.

Well that’s a start. My point was that in the aftermath of MH17 and MH370, at least those affected have some explanation.

The Russians have the clout to deny, deny, deny and offer gas deals down the line, they’re fucked now though as it’s the same system used that brought down the Ukrainian plane.
And one thing regardless of probability is the Iranians are to get fucked over this, if Russia and China quits backing them they’re toast.
I’m not sure why they would. Nations are above else, all about the national interest. It is presently in China and Russia’s national interest to have access to what Iran provides.
At the moment, if Iran becomes a toxic brand as such they’ll drop it, this puts the heat on that missile that struck MH17, why was the plane (PS752) taken away so quick?

One thing for sure, this empowers Trump and weakens Iran and others fighting proxy wars against US interests.

Maybe. He has certainly pleased his mates in the Knesset. They have been agitating for some action against Iran, although this probably isn’t enough.
The reason I have doubts is because part of Trump’s 2017 pitch was not involving the US in further conflicts. His opponents can also throw all those tweets back in his face which said that Obama was hellbent on having a war with Iran.
He’ll brush them off and as it stands return from the election with more power.

Not the same system, this was a Tor missile, the Malaysian Airlines flight was a Buk, both Russian but different systems. Also, the Malaysian flight was shot down by actual Russians, this is just a system sold to Iran by Russia, the Iranians are capable of operating these things by themselves.
