Just finished Chernobyl, amazing simply amazing, very very damning of the systems in place, I wonât say anymore but watch if you havenât.
Iâve got decent access to lots of stuff, but canât find this on streams (or Netflix) which is annoying (would happily pay for it) Killing Eve, line of Duty & Chernobyl ainât availabel to watch on demand. In fact we have only about 75% of the Netflix stuff the UK does
Chernobyl is on Sky - Iâll ask Young Adult #2 for a link as heâs watching it.
Get a vpn that doesnât enforce geo blocking and youâll be able to get to US and UK Netflix, not too sure about bbc though. Itâll be the old eastern block Phil, Iâve no doubt you probably still get patriotic Soviet tunes and the best marches of the Stalin eraâŠ
Couldnât help yourself could you Bazza?
As the late great Darth Vader said
All too easy.
To be honest, some classic Soviet era music would be a blessing.
Instead I have this 24x7 - you lot try and listen to more than 5 minutes of it
Film/TV adaptation doesnât contain as much detail as novel shocker.
Started watching Ozark this weekend and enjoyed the first couple of episodes.
Around 7/10 for me.
Surprised you were awarded that much
get a now tv weeks free pass.
Itâs alright.
Designated Survivor S4 goes back to its roots a bit.
Election time, a conspiracy, political carnage nothing new, no spoilers there.
But also has a bit more humanity in it.
Keifer Sutherland trying to learn to do Rubics Cube on the wrapper is a great little moment.
Better than S3 so far
Watched When They See Us on Netflix over the last few days.
No spoilers here as the film assumes youâve already heard about the events it depicts.
It aims to add a human story behind the people involved in the true story of the Central Park 5 - five young black lads that were convicted of a brutal gang rape of a young, white and wealthy female banker (all those adjectives are there because they are important for the story).
Another story of confessions given under duress. Itâs shocking but incredibly compelling.
Recommended.
Something really unexpected. Never thought about it, but Chernobyl has really freaked/upset/messed up Mrs P_F. I never thought - she LIVED through it. She went to sip a drink during Ep5 and almost threw up because she was hit with the flashback to having to take a plastic shot glass of pink coloured Iodine.âIâll never forget how horrid it tastedâ
It was April & unseasonably hot here, they, like other family had planted all their veggies for the year- all had to be destroyed.
If she even looked at a salad leaf the response was a sharp NO youâll glow in the dark.
And what really hit her?
She knew the basics, had seen Jezza & Top Gear go there & Bruce Willis in Die Hard 400.
But she never knew WHAT happened.
What a stunning piece of television that was and, minor dramatic defects aside, how important historically that the story be told.
God bless all those poor sods that somehow cleaned it up
RIP to so many
I mentioned this one a little while ago.
Think this sums it up well. On iplayer for anyone who wants to catch up.
Jessica Jones is back for S3, think Pap mentioned it. We do like her, but the show is a bit jumpy in 1st episodes. Doesnât stop us looking forward to more episodes tonight
Watched the first episode of George Clooneyâs new adaptation of Catch-22 this evening. Looks good - it has the reputation of being one of those novels that is impossible to adapt for screen, be it large or small, but I suspect this is as much to do with its size as anything else. Itâs clearly not a novel that could be condensed into a couple of hours - this adaptation has close to six hours.
One of the great novels of the twentieth century, so it will be immensely to see it given a worthy treatment for screen. And this one certainly looks promising.
