Classy Lou. Very classy.

I do take pap’s new values for this place seriously, and I do try to do stuff that helps make / keep this place different. And I really didn’t want to have to ban you for disagreeing with me.

:lou_eyes_to_sky:

I will push my luck just a little further if I may to suggest that IF the moderation didn’t stifle the debate, then something else made Furball decide not to be around anymore. And that ad he’d done it once before, perhaps he has a wider issue with maintaining his membership here.

I do see the same current left-leaning nature of discussion (not necessarily membership) that you do. I also recognise the challenge that it brings to debates. As others have said though it’s up to the membership to change that from within. It doesn’t happen if people chose not to share their contrary views, or worse do a runner.

We’ll get better at it I’m sure.

Bletch (Generally awesome)

PS for the record I agreed with many of Furball’s concerns over Corbyn.

I knew early on that I was never going to be able to run this place on my own. It’s not really anything to do with technical ability; more a recognition that I know what I can be like, and I like to have my more contentious thoughts ratified by someone that’s perhaps not as (ahem) passionate and benefits from being a bit more level-headed. The working theory is that’s bletch

Seriously though, it’s a concept I have no problem dealing with, and I am more than happy for bletch to moderate me, especially if it’s a decision that affects all. Personally, I think bletch, among others, has done an outstanding job in helping to establish the tone of this site. It’s a haven for thoughtful discussion, unbridled geekery and at times, juvenile puerility.

It’s fair to say that while Furball (and others) hold up those values pretty well, there are times when we’ve all lapsed, and we get taken to task for it. Barry attracts untold crap for the crap he’s told; he’s still trucking along. KRG has got the wrong end of the stick a couple of times. My dad got a load of crap for making his bold statement, and continued to get it until he’d clarified his position. I’m neck and neck for ā€œclever things saidā€ vs ā€œstupid things saidā€ atm. I’ve gotten myself into trouble loads of times.

In pretty much all cases, except Barry who doesn’t give a fuck, a bit of humility or at least an acknowledgement of the points raised leads to either a resolution, or a better understanding of that person’s position. I have floated bigger controversies, dealt with a more partisan crowd, far worse abuse, and still didn’t run away. They had to kick me off that fucking site before I stopped posting there.

I thought Furball was left-wing just that he didn’t like Corbyn!!

Come the glorious revolution and Darth Corbyn ascends to the iron throne of swords I for one will be snitching on the internet and helping Furbs on his one way trip to the New Labour Camp (ie entirity of the IOW) for re-education.

I <heart> Papster.

Aw, Bucks. You’re always top of my list  x :lou_is_a_flirt:

Still enjoying Gotham, even though it had an incredibly stupid moment this week. As I’ve remarked before, I don’t mind the madness of Gotham one bit. It’s probably why I watch it. There’s a scene in which Gotham PD raid a counting house, belonging to Penguin. To insert a bit of additional danger, the brave cops of Gotham PD were accosted by a gentleman wielding a rocket launcher, who actually manages to fire the rocket.

The rocket misses the cops and goes through a doorway. This is all inside, btw. The spectacle of high explosives, designed to blow up tanks, being defeated by a fucking corridor, was not a pleasant one.

What made it worse is that the police chief made a huge thing of finding the supplier of this limp weapon.

Sigh… Two steps forward…

Yeah sorry about that. As you know, Political opinion isn’t one of our biggest discussion points down here.

Now, what IS a big discussion point is:-

Did we actually see Liv Tyler’s minge in The Leftovers this week?

Was it the real deal (nice and tidy btw) or was it a Body Double?

Will have to go off & look at the Corbyn elected leader thread to see whether Bearsy has recovered

Still very much reporting from the DC Universe, a couple of things to report on. First, I’ve seen the show Lucifer. Bear was speaking about its merits earlier on. This could be a promising show, although they do seem to be treading the Gotham path by taking a police procedural and weirding it up a bit. Regardless, great concept in the comics; glad to see it on screen. ms pap gives it a thumbs up too. Full series coming in 2016.

The other pilot I watched was Supergirl. I had seen a promising extended trailer awhile back. The pilot doesn’t disappoint, hitting exactly the right tone. Some very impressive action scenes for TV, and if you were strung along by Smallville, she flies in eprisode one, kids - and shows every indication of being able to fly in all episodes

Hey Phil, The Leftovers is really very good. Loved season one and like what they are doing so far with this one. I’m sure Liv Tyler didn’t request a stand in minge; though I can’t confirm that. I have a feeling that scene though will have some resonance down the line.

This and the new season of Fargo, which is also great.

After the excellent Daredevil, this looks promising. The next part of Netflix’s Defenders build up.

I didn’t know FX were showing Fargo this year. Wasn’t on Netflix. Didn’t know it was back, Glad it is, though.

Pap, I use torrent downloads for pretty much everything now. I really don’t watch telly too much now.

This looks like it could be tremendous fun:-

The season long polemic about political correctness gone mad continues at South Park, which for the first time ever, I am watching week to week.

This week, the practices of shaming and safe spaces go under the microscope. Another really strong episode; still getting the sense that this is series is one big statement rather than the reactive stuff they’ve done in the past.

I’ve been watching Chewing Gum on E4. Additionally filmed outside the local youth offending office allegedly.

Interesting entry on CV - minge double for Liv Tyler.

I’ve got some vindication on Gotham over at Forbes (link contains spoilers).

The first season is okay, but suffered from some bad choices in choosing which parts to highlight. The second season is belting it along. Last night’s episode might have been the strongest yet, even though it was once again, batshit crazy.

If i had a criticism of this year, it’s perhaps that we don’t get too many quiet moments of contemplation for characters to reflect on the crazy shit that is happening to them, sometimes to a fault. I almost thought that ace detective Jim Gordon wasn’t going to tumble onto the plot of this year’s villain, but he got there in the end.

That’s a quibble though. As long as Gotham keeps dishing out the crazy, I’ll be watching.

I see that there is going to be another series of Doctor Foster. Not sure if that is a good idea as the premise seems played out. Hopefully they have a strong story line and are not just trying to cash in on the success of series 1.

Fargo is just getting better and better. I’m a huge fan of the original movie and had my doubts how it could translate to TV. Moreso how they could improve upon season 1. But they’ve captured the original darkly humourous tone and the 70’s setting is beautifully realised. Best thing i’ve watched in ages.

Thought the same. I did think it was well done but didn’t really like the last episode and use of child in her revenge plot.
