Just finished series 2 of Top of the Lake in about 3 days. Again enjoyed it but blimey did she have a bit of a shit working
week/month. Those Aussie guys don’t let up do they? So many questions about it.

I don’t want to sully the GoT thread so I’ll leave it here instead
it’s just turned into a load of bollocks. Which is a shame. I understand that won’t be a popular viewpoint with the majority of people who’ve spent 7 seasons watching it.

So instead you’re sullying the Good Shows thread, even though you don’t think it’s a good show (and don’t bother explaining why).

This review is basically no more informative than my missus’ much much maligned “crap or brilliant” school of reviewing.

Each to their own. My daughter thought the last episode was “the best ever.” It has changed its dynamic, but that was always going to happen as the stories and characters come together, the battle with the White Walkers gets closer and everything generally speeds up. I spent more time getting annoyed this series about how the time lines have become ridiculous, but to me it is still the best thing on TV despite losing some of its subtlety. Having said that there has been a lot of flak fired at the last season by various critics.

I agree, it’s just a financial thing. Season 7 needed at least 1 more episode to let the story breath a little. trouble is it’s so expensive to produce. It’s way more than any movie on a “price per minute” basis.

Not even the CGI dragons and expansive locations , it’s tying down the cast (the more popular the show the more they will ask for, and you can’t recast them). They will have called season 7, 8 as one season, to save contracts.

For some of the cast they’ve been playing the same c’ter for 10 years. A lot of them were pretty obscure young UK actors, so quids in and a decent career

Ok piss off with GoT stuff.

Some of us are downloading it now to binge watch.

Moved on from Star Trek done Expanse ready for New season and now Stranger Things.

Expanse is very clever having that story and action in it means it gripped Mrs D_P in a way that High Castle never could.

Not sure on ST yet its a bit of a slow burner - is that a thing now on TV? I blame Lost.

“The Leftovers”, just finished the third and last season. I highly recommend. It was Exec produced by Damon Lindelof, the guy behind Lost. It’s a little similar, high concept sci fi, difference being it’s character driven and there’s no real story payoff, but that doesn’t matter. It’s character’s dealing with grief, in whatever way they can. It sounds a bit depressing but it’s one of the best things on telly recently, in my opinion.

Apologies if this one has been covered but I’m a late convert to “it’s always sunny in Philadelphia”.

Young Adult has been binge watching on Netflix. Caught a couple of series 12, and loved them so am starting from scratch. 3 guys and a girl run a bar and get into all sort of scrapes and situations. Usually wrong and politically incorrect, and sometimes uncomfortable comedy, but hilarious. I didn’t think the yanks could do this stuff properly.

Highly recommended.

I was very unfair on Stranger Things.

Yes 1st 2 episodes were a bit slow but then it kicked on big time.

Mrs D_P hates “scary shit” and gore but like me was gripped.

Thought it was annoying kids ET shit to start with but thank fvck we stuck with it & ready now for S2 in October.

I watched a large chunk of this ages ago whilst unemployed. I’ve been meaning to get back to it.

Last 2 episodes of Twin Peaks the return. Super surreal.

They recastedDaario.

The actor that originally played him went on to become the antagonist in Deadpool, and recently hit the news for dropping out of a role due to whitewashing.

They also recasted the Mountain, like two times.

Didn’t realise that those two guys played the same character. Preferred the last actor.

Again I’m pretty sure it’s already been mentioned but series 2 of The Expanse is available on Netflx on 8th Sept

Love the way they don’t go all star trek in glossing over travel / living in space.

Another one to fit in
in a good way.

Tin Star on Sky
Tim Roth at his usual best
 very good start

Dr Foster series 2. Not sure if this is good or terrible. The main character irritates the hell out of me. Why keep going back for more? I’d avoid her ex like the plague if it were me. Still Mrs SOG likes it.

Ah good to know I am not alone on this one. The first series was ok. But thought it could have been left there really. Good acting but could someone get some therapy for Dr Foster? People get cheated on but don’t take it to manic revenge, just move on!

Samurai Jack. I’m on the last episode of season 4 about to start the final 5th season. Every episode basically involves jack slashing up hundreds of robots with his magic sword but somehow I never get bored of it.
