Planet Earth 2 is just fucking amazing. Watch it

you want to say that to gavstar.

Ah don’t be like that Fats, I only said that because you disapproved of me liking sushi on Barry’s tower thread. I put a winky face and everything to show when I’m trying to be funny because it’s not always obvious :lou_wink_2:

I know, Gavin. I know. I love you.

gav, apropos of nothing, are you on Skype?

Join the love-in Ted, it’s all warm and cosy :lou_wink_2:

I’ll leave you and the Fatso to have your skype fun :scream:

I’m not Tedmaul etc

Seriously. Planet Earth 2, perhaps the best hour of tv i’ve seen. The years of work that go into the film. I’m trying to stay from politics, but there’s no other company aside from the BBC who can create this.

Then get it, you fucking tease.

I’ve now seen all of Rick and Morty, or all of it that is presently viewable anyway. Two seasons are out there. The third is thought to be launching in December this year.

The last time I was this impressed with two opening seasons of animated comedy was Family Guy, a show that lost its way after it was resurrected, but featured three excellent seasons before that happened. What superficially appears to be a skit on Back to the Future ends up becoming huge, calling on a lot of comic book conventions and subverting a lot of sci-fi tropes.

There’s also very little retread. The only episode to get a direct sequel was Interdimensional Cable, and I cannot see anyone having any complaints with either episode. What begins as a Rick and Morty fest also ends up involving other members of the family.

I’ve since learned that the main creative force behind Rick and Morty is the chap behind Community. I’m really not surprised. Rick and Morty is what happens when creative considerations aren’t rendered impossible because of financial ones, and Community managed to do a good enough job of making anything happen.

I have never watch that show but it has been on my list since someone post that video where they done a thing on that judge who was aguing with that crim who kept telling him to suck my dick u fuckman. I thought that was v.good and even now it is still catchphrase in our office to tell someone to suck my dick u fuckman.

Get on it, Bear. It’s good quality throughout, I reckon. Some fucking brilliant ideas in it.

Getting back into Westworld now after falling out of love with it a few weeks back. Nice curve ball this week that I didnt see coming. It has been advertised as the new Game of Thrones, which is certainly isnt, but it is worth sticking with.

Time to pile some more love onto Preacher, which I believe Phil of Dubai has already recommended. As stated, Tom Cruise explodes in the first episode, so it gets off to a flying start. Six episodes in, I’m impressed with both the Preacher and the world they’ve built around him. Minor spoiler (you find out in episode two and the whole series is built around it) but the titular protagonist can make people do things just by suggestion. Think instant compelling hypnosis.

He doesn’t know where these powers are coming from initially. The explanation so far has been pretty cool. Joseph Gilgun is on fine form as a vampire, reproducing much of his manic brilliance from Misfits, but with an Irish accent. The rules of vampirism aren’t as harsh in this world. Sunlight’s the only thing that can kill him, but even then, he manages to get about in the daytime (with often hilarious fashion outcomes).

Really enjoying it. It’s a show that loves to explore its own possibilities to humorous and visceral excess. Well worth a view.

Thanks for that Pap. Do think Preacher is quality even if just for the cinematography & what it shows of small town America.

Meanwhike, blowing my own trumpet I did help create a great bit of tv" yesterday. Could have been in it they offered but I was skiving off work & would have needed to spend an hour in the Sun on a 32C day so I did security for the European Tour Mannequin challenge.

Amazing how much work goes into that.

Gave the guys an idea for another one this weekend. Let’s see how it goes they loved the idea. Fingers crossed

I’ve seen all of the first season now. I’d thoroughly recommend it, without having to make any excuses for it.

One of the best things about the show is just how much happens in that small town. I also like the way it spent an entire season building up what is presumably next season’s villain. I haven’t read the source material; I suspect that he might be some kind of big bad or archenemy.

Another gem from work this week.

Try and watch Panorama tomorrow night, only because I filmed part of it and nearly got beaten up by local idiots. It’s an expose on abuse in Nursing homes.
